silly, you are saying the organization behave like the fan base and I'm am saying the fan base knows how the organization operates.

I am not saying that the organization does what the fan base wants it to do.

I'm saying you all are conservative-minded. The fans and the organization, so you think alike.

Haha, Don't forget that we also need to lock him down with a massive long term deal. You don't let him get away.

I should go peruse the threads where people were arguing we needed to trade high picks to get him ASAP because he was worth the risk (just for laughs).

Not really.

What kind of "troubled past" did Rae Carruth have before the one that sent him to prison? That's the more important question.

The reason that question matters is no player has to have a "troubled past" to end up shaming your organization that one time they decide to do something stupid or criminal, just like those who shoot up a school or a post office don't have to have ever done anything before that would lead you to believe they would now.

That's a fact. What good is a "background" check if the guy buying the gun has never killed anyone and has just now decided that he wants to?

But you could have someone who got out of prison who wants a gun for protection because he knows he's a wanted man, but he can't get one for a good reason while the disgruntled student who wants to shoot up his school is given one because his record checks out.

In other words, plenty of other NFL players who aren't always in the news will probably do a lot more violent things and shame the league before Josh Gordon does, so if he could be had for virtually nothing when he can be, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I would. Whether "I would" has zero to do with whether Richardson will.

This board isn't the Panthers' front office.

So, in a nutshell (which is appropriate here) we should go after guys like Josh Gordon who have a long history of stupidity and bad behavior because you never know when a guy like Jason Avant who's never done anything wrong is suddenly gonna turn bad on you.

Oh yeah...That makes sense

(be a great philosophy to try out when hiring a babysitter as well)

More like, you should realize that your judgments are ignorance-based. Thanks for yet again reaffirming what I said to begin with.

Anyway.

You don't know what you don't know, and you can't predict the future, which is why sometimes you take a chance on "talented" guys who still need to mature (if you can do it for a reasonable price), because 1) they could mature, and 2) most people are hiding things that could've gotten them arrested at some point.

Plenty of people around this country got DWIs on the 4th. Gordon is a moron, but a holiday DWI and smoking marijuana aren't the biggest of deals to me, and those types of incidents don't usually end up being "gateway crimes" to bigger ones.

Some organization is going to say, "we are run more competently than the Browns, we can handle him better," and take a risk on him. And they won't break the bank doing it either.

You said "guys like Josh Gordon". There aren't a whole lot of guys "like" Gordon talent-wise. If this was Josh Norman, he'd have been gone after the first offense.

.09 bac is pretty rough, especially on the fourth, was over the limit by the skin of his teeth. I would give him a pass, but.........everyone knows you should not drive after any drinks. If you did choose to drive and had a .09 bac, meaning you are not that drunk, and choose to speed by half the posted speed, unreal. Clearly he doesn't give a ***.

He's stupid, for sure. But is he Satan himself, and should he be deemed "untouchable"?

Not until a firearm possession charge enters the picture.

Lol how can you say he is low risk with a straight face.

He is the Merriam fuging Webster dictionary definition of high risk.

Next time he won't get pulled over by the cops. He's gonna crash his car and kill himself and probably somebody else as well.

It's not the action of getting a .09 DUI that's so unforgivable (which is still very bad). It's the fact that this guy basically had one more chance and still blows it. The best player in the league isn't worth dealing with someone like that.

In NC smoking weed and DUIs are both illegal. If the case you're making for him involves "so what everyone does it" then you're thinking is as irrational as Gordon's.

This guy really needs six month lock down rehab .......he will not do it on his own it seems and the NFL can do nothing except suspend him. Hopefully he has family that can intervene and convince him to get into serious treatment. Some may say it's only weed and booze, but if you have an addictive personality then it matters not what the crutch is. Also seems some serious psychiatric counseling is in order also to deal with his self destructive behavior.
