Hornets Among Many Talking To Marvin Williams

Recommended Posts

After losing free agent Josh McRoberts to the Miami Heat, the Charlotte Hornets are pursuing free agent Marvin Williams to take over the power forward slot, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Hornets and Williams have discussed parameters of a deal, but no agreement is imminent, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Williams, 28, is perhaps the best available power forward left on the free-agent market and it could be paramount to the Hornets to secure him.

Per hoopshype:

After losing Josh McBob to the Heat, the Charlotte Hornets are pursuing Marvin Williams to take over the PF slot.

The hornets and Williams have discussed parameters of a deal but nothing is imminent.

The Jazz still value Williams and havent given up hope on re-sign him, but his desire for contract security may exceed what Utah is willing to pay.

So with us still looking at power forwards, I'm guessing Zeller is getting moved to center because Vonleh wouldn't see the court if Zeller is kept at power forward.

Not necessarily. I don't think Clifford is willing to put all his eggs in their baskets. Whoever plays best gets run.

Williams would be a great signing. Save the UNC/Jordan garbage. The team obviously wanted McRoberts but that didn't work out. Our team is incredibly young & we need a few veterans. Marvin is a solid player & a great guy who can really help the young players. He's also the best PF on the free agent market. McRoberts fit well with the team but Marvin is a better player, & will probably be cheaper.

Now let the ABCer hate rain down & cry to the world over Marvin possibly playing in Charlotte. It's unfortunate UNC/Duke/State fans make our fan base look so fuging retarded.

    • The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So... Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.
    • According to the talking heads of the sports world, this is a pretty meh QB class.  Sanders and Ward are the only two with first round buzz, but the rest are blah.  Take that for what you will. Let's see how Bryce does in year three.  That's just where we are.  Patience is the key here.  Players need time to develop.  They can't develop if they don't play.  Bryce has made some really good throws, but he doesn't look like CJ Stroud.  That's going to be his point of comparison the rest of their careers.  The ball doesn't explode off Bryce's hand, it's not a cannon ball shot out of a cannon.  He's not going to break a 70 yard run.   Bryce is going to have to continue to make good throws and make plays.  Part of that is going to depend on the play calls.  Part of it is based on the skill players.  A couple drops picked up yesterday and it's a win and Bryce throws 1-2 more TDs.  A completely different story. It's been a crazy year indeed.  I just want to see Bryce continue to develop.  To see XL become more consistent.  To see JT fully recover (not play this season if he's not healthy).  I want to see Coker continue to make plays.  I'd love to see Brooks get more touches and Chubba continue to hammer defenses. Then this approaching offseason, let's go back to the D and work on fixing it.
    • Prime is already gone boss.  Nothing left for team Sanders in college football.
