There's always an adjustment when entering a new league and level of play. Did you see how ugly PJ's play was his freshman year at UNC? No doubt the dude is going to be a good NBA player, but I think he comes off the bench the whole year, especially with Cliff's philosophy on vets. I'd love to be wrong.

How many years ago was that? Different player now. And besides he was getting spot minutes ie hard to get in a flow or experience like that.

I dont see anyway Clifford is gonna be able to hold PJ on the bench. He is gonna come in a light teams up and be head and shoulders better than Hendo. I will bet he will have a few 30 point games.

Well, put it this way, by mid season him and Hendo's minutes will be at the least split.

You definitely have some good points and a valid arguement.

Only thing I will add is that Clifford really seems to have a thing for vets.  That fact alone should tamper everyone's expectations on how much PJ will play and contribute this year.....even though logic may tell us otherwise.

Don't get me wrong....I'm very pro-PJ. I'm just trying to be realistic here. When was the last time a rookie came into the league and dominated right away? There is always a transition period.

Hahaha....

I would say it's a safe bet PJ will do nothing that even resembles "dominating" in the NBA for a long time.  Likely never.  What are you homers smoking?  The kid was decent in college, decent in the D-League... does that equal a dominant NBA career?  The UNC homerism is strong in here.

Lillard off the top of my head who played at a smaller college at that.

Dominating? I am not saying PJ will in the league averaging 25ppg.

I simply think he can average 15ppg this season providing us with 3pt shooting and perimeter scoring.

20+ppg is "decent"? And you talking about homerism? lol

Now saying PJ will dominate the NBA on a nightly basis is also homerism.

Do you know who else scored 20+PPG in the D-League this year?  Let's run down this list of dominant NBA players.

Kevin Murphy

Devin Ebanks

Frank Gaines

Ronald Murray

Ron Howard

Terrence Williams

PJ Hairston

Wow.  You sold me.  PJ is the future.  LMAO.

1) I never said PJ would dominate the NBA

2) Your post is irrelevant due to #1 and the simple fact that averaging 20+ppg is considerably better than "decent" regardless of what they do in the NBA.

No one said anything about PJ dominating. We were talking about the impact of rookies....any and all rookies. As a UNC hater you just look for an opportunity to criticize "UNC homerism". At least do it when you have a relevant claim. Reading before you respond usually helps.

Look no further than this laugher from one of your own...

"I don't see anyway Clifford is gonna be able to hold PJ on the bench.  He is gonna come in and light teams up and be head and shoulders better than Hendo.  I will bet he will have a few 30 point games."

I'd say that's a "relevant claim."

Averaging 15ppg with a few 30 point games is not exactly dominating. Additionally, being better than Hendo isnt dominating either.

"Head and shoulders above Hendo" = scoring in other ways than midrange fadeaways off a screen.

What you did was pull back on the hyperbole a bit, because "Oh man, he's gonna light some teams up!" doesn't scream "He could realistically average 15ppg."  It's OK... we all do it from time to time.

You did it again saying he'd be "head and shoulders" better than Hendo.  How in the world can you make that statement?  (I think I know why...) But Gerald Henderson is a very solid defender, drastically more athletic than PJ, has proven he can score in this league, (PJ hasn't proven anything) and has had several productive NBA seasons.  Gerald will be fine and will play many more years in this league.  At this rate, we're not even sure PJ will make it to game 1.
