So we all agree Hendo can't be on the roster this year?

Recommended Posts

I value loyalty, not above "all else" but I do value it. I think if someone came along willing to take his contract of our hands I'd do it as long as we had a guy like Lance Stephenson who would be the starter anyways.

I want clear something up. I'm not defending keeping him. I'd like to trade his 6 million a year contract. However, I don't understand all the hate he gets. He may get more playing time then he deserves, but that is because of the lack of options behind him. It's not his fault. He has done nothing to orchestrate the hate he gets. Same with McRoberts.

People don't "hate" Henderson. They hate the idea that a big part of the Hornets' success currently depends on him.

I guess I have to repeat this. He wasn't "loyal." He was happy just to have a job, lol. If he'd been in high demand last offseason, do you think he'd have turned down a higher offer than the Bobcats gave him? Of course not, but that would've been "loyalty." Simply not being disgruntled when you have no leverage isn't.

Hendo performed in a contract year and got paid.

Sound familiar?

Basically this.  I think we paid him with hopes that he would build on that year.  Instead, he got worse, and not only that, he got worse AFTER we brought in Jefferson which if anything, should have freed him up a bit to produce more.

I'm not mad he's on the team, and I'd only trade if we had other/better options with higher ceilings.  He just plays a position where we need more production than he's giving and we need someone to step up when we need it.    Because of all that, he's overpaid, but I still value has classiness and loyalty.

Problem is, I think bringing in Big Al made Hendo less effective.

Again, I think Hendo is a good player at the right price and with the right team. Just not sure that this team is the right one for him and certainly not at that price.

Henderson is a hard worker and I think he will still improve some. He pulled a Raymond Felton (almost) in the playoffs, but that aside he is solid.

He has improved every year from behind the arc and I wouldn't be surprised if he shot better than .370 from deep this year. He will never be elite, but he improves every season.

My main issue with Gerald is that I don't think he takes advantage of his athleticism enough offensively. He is effective getting to the rim and he needs to do so more often.

This I agree with. Hendo has slightly improved his shot from behind the arc, and in fact shot as well this past year as the great one himself Harrison Barnes that many want to trade for. Just please don't mention Felton again as Hendo has never even come close to being that bad. The worst draft by any team in history had to be the year Charlotte took Felton and May both in the lottery.

The problem is (and I'm a huge Hendo fan) he and MKG don't work well on the court together. They both do their work in the same areas and that lesson our versatility on offense.

And since MKG has more upside and Hendo is about at his ceiling. Hendo is the odd man out.

Anyone who didn't say that (like I did) when the Bobcats were about to draft MKG, doesn't know squat. Soon as they drafted MKG, Henderson should've been replaced, or they should've drafted Beal or Barnes.

Don't need to hear anyone saying, "No, they should've drafted Damian Lillard," because at the time they weren't looking to replace Kemba. It was MKG, Beal, or Barnes, which means it was actually MKG or Barnes, since they took a SF because Henderson was a SG.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
