Best Cam Newton Article of the offseason?

Recommended Posts

It was a pretty good write up with stats backing up what he was talking about, and the obvious things that others already know.

Overall tho, it was positive and supporting Cam's growth as a QB in the NFL.

It's a decent piece, probably about the quality of a good post here.

Wouldn't call it 'great' and certainly not the greatest thing I've read this offseason, but worth the read.

Said it elsewhere, but a fair number of folks on here judge the 'greatness' of football writers by the amount of positive things they say about the Panthers, which is frankly pretty silly.

Someone says something bad about the Panthers and people get their feelings hurt like it's something personal.  It's not.  It may or may not be misinformed, but it's pretty much never personal.

Fans get their feelings wrapped up in a team.  Writers generally don't.

Not always true, writers are human just like fans, and are more than capable of bias. Most of these guys have their own teams.

Not as much as people on here think.

The average NFL writer doesn't have much in the way of feelings about the Panthers because...why should they?  Objectively speaking we're just not that important.  We get to where we're winning more and then maybe, but right now most national guys would rather talk about the Seahawks, Broncos, Patriots, etc.

We may have moved 'the radar' a bit last season, but if we don't have a repeat performance this year, most national analysts will put us back in the same category as the Jags and the Lions (i.e. a team you have to talk about occasionally because they're in the league, but not really worth that much effort).

And given our history to this point, sad to say but that's perfectly reasonable.

Well unfortunately that just comes with the territory of being a smaller market team with a shorter history.

I think we are seeing that gradually change though with Cam, and Luke being the faces of our franchise.

It's possible.

Time will tell.

That comes with being a fan. You just can't stand it when folks downplay your team. Fans always think their team, and players, are better than what the outsiders think.

Most up in here can take the criticism, when warranted, and done without making stuff up. If you give them valid reasons why you think something is wrong, they can deal with it. It is when those writers just throw out nonsense to make a point that folks get their panties in a wad.

You don't like our WR corp., fine. But don't just say they suck, give me a reason. If you can explain yourself, I will listen. And most fans will to.

Just don't herp de derp me and expect me to take it.

They guy is a member of the PFWA so he's not just an internet hack.  It's more than a tab bit better than anything you will read here. Bleacher Report cleaned up their act a while ago.
