Chris Broussard: Hornets going to make a strong run at Stephenson.

If I felt like I could be great, I'd want to go to a team where I could become the best that franchise has ever had, and make that city MY city when it comes to pro sports.  Going to Lakers, they are always going to be a dozen players ahead of you in history, same with Bulls and Jordan's legacy.  Come to the Hornets, lead us to playoff trips consistently, you become a Hornets GOD and will be the person everyone thinks about when they think about the Hornets.  I know endorsement deals and all that, but your owner is Jordan who can help you with that.  But if you want a legacy, this would be the place imo.

I don't see Stephenson leaving the Pacers. I don't think he's worth top dollar FA money. He's too inconsistent and has some issues with his character. I also feel like we need a SF over a SG. We can win with Hendo, Hairston and Neal. We can't win with MKG unless he can improve his shooting over an offseason which isn't impossible but highly unlikely. We would be pretty good with Hayward and there has been rumors of Ariza or Deng coming here. If healthy Deng would put us in the top of the east.

I agree that he's not worth a huge contract(from a fan's point of view) but the market appears to see it differently . Stephenson is not Lebron or Kobe, where their presence alone makes you a contender. Alot of players can score 20 pts, grab 10 rebounds & dish out 10 lasts but few can do it on any given night. The real value Stephenson could bring is his skill set will allow other players to play more to their strengths

I feel as a small market, we not only have to pay more, but also have to pay for potential sometimes and roll the dice.  Stephenson has HUGE upside.  Just like Vonleh and Hairston and MKG, might as well keep the trend going lol.

Damn I read that Stephenson contract wrong, I thought the Pacers were offering $11 mil/ year.

5 years $44 million is a lowball offer, no way is Stephenson going to sign for less than $9 mil a season.  I wonder how much that 5th year the Pacers can offer is even going to help. Lance is young enough that he will be 27 during that last season, he sure to get plenty of big offers in his next contract baring anything crazy

The thing is Stephenson is just so inconsistent. I mean he can look like an allstar for a few games then just be below average for the next number of games. Which is why his ppg is lower than Hendersons. If we do sign him we better plan on him being our #3 option. On a positive note we will have PJ backing him up and he could really help out on those off games he has.

The Pacers offered Lance 5 years/$44 million and he turned it down. Seems like it's down between us, Chicago, and the Lakers. Lance said he wants to play for "a contender or an up and comer" so that rules out LAL. I'd say our chances at getting him are pretty good at this point.

Sources: L Stephenson & Pacers at impasse. Indy offers 5 yrs/$44 mill. Lance wants more, will talk to others. Chi, LAL, Hornets interested.

Dude he averaged less than Henderson bc he played for Indiana and did what they needed to win. He was a scoring facilitator. Was like 3rd or 4th option. If he comes here he will be the 2nd. And u said earlier we can't win with MKG. Uhhhh yeah we can and have been. We need a sg who can score handle the ball and make plays beside MKG. Lance will be that guy. And then some

Keep him away from the Lakers. I would like his fire and tenacity, but the kids wants way too much money.
