Tier 1-

Stephen Curry

Tony Parker

Chris Paul

Derrick Rose

Russell Westbrook

Those are the only "elite" point guards in the NBA today. That's it. You could probably argue there are only two, Tony Parker and Chris Paul. Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook play point guard but they're both two guards and Derrick Rose has been out with injury for over two seasons.

Tier 2-

Eric Bledsoe

Kyrie Irving

Ty Lawson

Kyle Lowry

Rajon Rondo

Kemba Walker

John Wall

Deron Williams

After those top five, who are head and shoulders above the rest, there is a huge cluster of about a dozen very, very good point guards. In fact, point guard is probably the strongest position in the NBA right now. It's all objective, none of the guys in this group are clearly better than the rest. You can bitch, moan, and complain but that's just the way it is. None of them are stars, none of them are elite. They are all very good players but that's it. Some are better at scoring, some are better at passing, some do a little bit of everything, etc. I'm sure I missed a couple of names, I just ran off the list from the top of my head. Trading any of these players for each other would be a lateral move. You're not gonna greatly improve by swapping any of them, it's all personal opinion. Then at the bottom half of the league are about a dozen point guards who are just average and serviceable.

The bottom line is this; Kemba Walker is a good point guard and you're not gonna upgrade over him. There are only three guys in the league I would trade him for; Steph Curry, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook. Tony Parker is too old (and already hinting at retiring soon) and Derrick Rose is injury prone with bad knees and a poor attitude.

Dragic deserves to be somewhere on that list.

All-NBA third team over Westbrook.
