We need to look for a STARTING PG.

Kemba is a bad team point guard. Takes too many shots. Isn't a strong distributor. Needs too much of the basketball to make his points. How many NBA teams have won anything with a PG like Kemba starting?

If your PG is taking more shots than anybody else on your team you either have a bad team or a bad PG. Just about any NBA quality starter taking the number of shots that Kemba took would have been good for 20 a night. His shooting percentage was well below average, but by all means we should look at his PPG numbers to determine his value to us.

Interesting hypothesis.  You know there was a PG who led his team in shot attempts in these playoffs (it wasnt Kemba)

His name was Tony Parker

The Spurs are a weird machine, but I'll admit to being gotten when I get it. Good job. I shouldn't have added that part. Tony Parker is a hell of a distributer though and the ball flows in that offense to the open man. No selfish hands. I think Kemba is taking the most shots in our offense because he views himself as the best option, not because he gets the best shots. Never been a fan of hero ball.

Kemba was also avg. 8 assists a game by the end of the season. Most "real" basketball fans could see as he and AL got more comfortable with each other both their numbers increased.

People should also notice the genius who are starting these threads. Want players who are Older then Kemba with the same numbers.

Chuck has already proven his opinion is equal to dog poo in Singapore. Now Super j is on the same path.

Just my experience it's better to ignore the monkeys throwing poo instead of giving them attention. Sooner or later they just start eating that poo and moving on.

WRONG! !

Kemba takes a lot of shots because he is the only peremeriter player who can create his own shot.

He did it out of necessity.

I don't get it. I just don't get it. Kemba is a good pg. I was frustrated sometimes watching him. But he really improved IMO. Every month he increaed his assists. Every month. Until the last month he was averaging 8. Hell if the season was still going he might up to 10 by now.

Give Kemba some talent on the wings and post and see what happens. We already seen the post help Kemba out. Now we need the shooting. Sign a shooter and watch what happens with Kemba.

I don't understand it either. Disliking Kemba is an opinion but take note how everyone on the forum that bashes Kemba lacks knowledge of the game.

WRONG!

You have an opinion that is wrong.

A lot of times, he'd get the ball with 4-5 seconds left with no play call left and have to make something happen because the play call failed. Coach also called a ton of ISO for him, especially late in the game. So yes, Kemba took a ton of shots out of necessity.

I actually thought this might be the case, but actually only 16% of Kemba's shot came when the clock was at 21 or higher. Jefferson and Henderson were both at 17%.

I think the real problem here is Kemba having to settle for bad shots due to no perimeter play. Kemba's game rivals Ty Lawson's, they are both capable of hitting jumpers but both prefer to get to the rim.

The difference is that we have no spacing as McRoberts is literally our only three point threat out there. So in actuality what is happening is defenders are backing off Henderson and MKG (who already camping out inside the three point line) daring them to beat them with a jump shot. In turn that clogs the lane and forces Kemba to drive the the lane with two bodies in the paint (instead of one) or defer to Gerald Henderson for a jump shot (both bad options).

I was looking at Kemba's college game and saw that he shot 42% from the field the year the Huskies won the NCAA title Then I looked to see who his shooting guard was. That honor was held by Jeremy Lamb who shot 37% from three while doing an excellent job of spacing the floor. Kemba is now playing with a wing who shoots 11% from three and a two guard who shoots 34% from three (both obviously below average).

This is why I think we desperately need a perimeter threat that draws out the defenders that are otherwise sitting in the lane when both Henderson and MKG are in the game.

Example: In the picture below McBob sets a great screen for Kemba (who could easily use his speed to beat Terrence Jones to the rim). However, notice how MKG is hovering close to the paint. Due to MKG is not spacing the floor, Parsons is in great position to cut him off on the drive forcing a 15 foot jumper at the elbow instead of an easy bucket at the rim.

Kemba does get less effecient with more minutes. He needs a Tony Parker like minutes cap bc his fg percentage gets horrible in the 4th.

It has nothing to do with total minutes played. He becomes a complete ball hog in the 4th. Every 3rd or 4th tight game, he actually hits a big shot and then people clamor that he is clutch.
