Should we just save our cash?

I've always liked the idea of adding one piece at a time because it doesn't destroy your team cap wise. For me the shooting guard position is the biggest position of need and while I would like Henderson as a backup, he is making too much money to be a backup. Not to mention Hairston would never see the court as Clifford plays no more than four wings per game.

I really hope we explore trading Henderson. If he was taller (i.e. at least 6'6") I would say give him a shot at small forward but he would most likely get destroyed defensively.

My ultimate goal is to see us sign Stephenson. Stephenson would more than likely come cheaper than Hayward and I also think Stephenson's potential is through the roof.

Then next year we can focus on upgrading another position of like power forward (Aldridge/Millsap) or possibly even point guard (Goran Dragic) if Kemba doesn't progress after playing with a competent shooting guard.

Imagine a 2015 starting line-up of

PG: Walker

SG: Stephenson

SF: Kidd-Gilchrist

PF: Aldridge/Millsap

C: Jefferson

If we managed to pull off deals for those two players, then we would have a very good starting five, and have some good options from the bench (Hairston, Vonleh, Zeller etc).

The PG question could be addressed in the draft. With that line up we would have three players with excellent athleticism, and one that uses his skill and technique. If there's a PG like Ennis or Napier, that could be an option.

Though I wouldn't rule out our PFs making an impact if they are both given serious mins at PF. If that happened we could look at trying to make a pitch to Rondo if he isn't traded before he hits free agency. He would give us an excellent pass first PG, and with a supporting cast like -Stephenson / MKG / Vonleh or Zeller / Jefferson - his ability at PG could take us to that next level.

Either way, I think adding one piece per season would be a smart move to make. The only issue with this is whether Al opts into his player option, or opts out to get a bigger contract if he matches or improves his play on last seasons play. If that happens we could end up with less cap space to play with, unless he gives us a discount because he wants to win a championship.

I don't think we'll just sit on cash.  We want to win, and we need to.  With the rebrand, now you want to go full speed ahead, but hopefully with smart moves.

KD won't leave OKC and despite what we think, rebrand and MJ and all that, doesn't mean much to players.  I've long fell off the "MJ can get us stars" train as it hasn't proved fruitful, at all.

I don't think Cho will over pay unless he truly feels like it isn't overpaying.  We have to trust him, like we are trying with Gettleman right now.

I'd expect Cho to go after Aldridge.  We could use him, and Cho probably wouldn't mind sticking it to the Blazers considering they canned him after less then a year on the job.

Just for kicks I wiki'd Cho and found out he was an engineer for Boeing, and has a law degree from Pepperdine.  So quite literally he's a rocket scientist that destroys taxes..
