Should we just save our cash?

One thing I am curious about is if we were able to dump Henderson's contract for nothing (i.e. non-guaranteed's), would we throw all our money at LeBron or Melo?

Outside of re-signing with their own team we could potentially offer the most money.

Then it that scenario you use the MLE on a backup point guard and re-sign McRoberts and Pargo since you can go over the cap to sign those guys.

It's funny that we couldn't give him away to the Magic.  They took a counter intuitive deal just so they didn't have to pay Hendo.

I think we have to offer Lebron even though he's not coming on the .0000001% chance the he does want to.  I lulz at teams that are desolating their roster though for a guy who's not going to come there.  Lucky we don't have to do that.

What makes you guys think we are even top 5 on any superstars wish list? We haven't proven anything yet, we haven't won a single playoff game yet. We aren't on any superstars radars as of this point in time.

I don't think any of us are delusional enough to think we're going to get Carmelo or Lebron.  But we have a good foundation set up for winning long term.  The idea is to build the Charlotte Hornets brand as a place where stars will want to come in the future.

Very true.  At this point, there is no evidence that a "Superstar" would consider us.

Big Al coming was a "star", and he was the first of that category to come here, so maybe they are thinking we are ready to jump into those discussions.

However, Can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.

If you have it, they will come. Unfortunately we don't have enough.

Yes, and with bigger market teams out there with $, they will choose those teams 9.99999999999999999/10 over a small market team with literally 0 history of postseason winning. We have some years of proving to do before we are on superstars radars.

This is why the thread was started.  Prove ourselves by being a playoff team for several years and maintain our flexibility through the process.  Why overspend on mid tier talent, then not have the money when we're finally actually a viable landing spot.

By the time we're a "viable landing spot", any contracts we would hand out will have expired or be expiring. You don't win a prize for having a lot of cap space. At some point you have to turn it into basketball players.

He's a free agent in 2016. Cho drafted him in Seattle. Thread was started in regards to winning while we set ourselves to go after in a couple of years.

We're not getting Durant.

He was an assistant GM. Didn't draft Durant.

We're in a win now mode. Why would we wait for next year? If that was the plan, we would've tank for Parker or Wiggins.

If you have the most amount of cap space in the NBA, then it doesn't matter how big your market is if you have a competitive team (which we do).

That's the reason I brought up the idea of trading Henderson for non-guaranteed contracts so we could offer literally within a million dollars of what Miami can offer.
