COD, but i'd even go far as to say any first person shooter in general. Its a genre i hate, i dont find it fun at all. yet the market is overflowing with it. "Hey lets put another game with all black and brown graphics" BRILLIANT!! /sarcasm

You're talking about a game that's getting close to celebrating it's 20th anniversary. Of course you can make the gameplay better in 20 years. It would be a serious problem if you couldn't. Being old doesn't make a game overrated., not being worth the hype and fanfare when it was new does. FFVII was absolutely worth every bit of hype and fanfare when it came out...

 

Of course games being made now should be better than it. I was talking about other rpgs available near its release or a couple of years later. Super mario rpg, xenogears, chrono trigger, breath of fire seires, parasite eve, and the legend of dragoon all added more to the rpg genre than a final fantasy 7 ever did. final fantasy 7 didnt add anything new to it when it was released. Has the same battle mechanics as the previous tittle final fantasy 6. It was marketed like hell when it came out, mind you most of the tv advertisement only showed cutscenes not actual gameplay, a tradition we often see to this day.  I like the game, i'm just not in love with it like most.

Some of you are reading overrated as "game everyone else enjoys but I fuging hate so it must suck". They aren't the same. FFVII and WoW aren't remotely overrated.
