Heat Big 3 staying together

Recommended Posts

Latest report is that the big 3 want most of that 55 million in cap space, plus Haslem getting a deal and the Heat won't have enough left over to sign someone like Lowry.

So essentially, they apparently opt out to take less money to free up space to sign an improved supporting cast, but instead want to take up the majority of the cap space and leave the team with less wiggle room to sign an improved supporting cast, thus leaving them back at square one.

Well if that happens, then good luck to them because if the other main teams improve (us, Pacers, Raptors), then the Heat could find it difficult to make the finals next season unless Wade and Bosh become dominate again to support LeBron. For me, I'd let Bosh and Wade walk unless they agreed to no more than $10m per season. Add LeBron at $20m, then that's $40 million taken up with cash spare to bring in support. If Bosh and Wade want more, let's say an extra $5m each to bring it up to $50m, let them walk - or at least one of them, and use the remaining cap space to improve the rest of the line up.

Personally it will be a tough decision for the Heat. If they tie themselves up again it might see them over taken by the Pacers, and perhaps gives us a chance as well.

Lebron wants near max money, so you have roughly 22m there, Wade and Bosh are probably looking at 13-15m a season. So that's another 26-30m. Plus Haslem will get a long term deal at around 3-4m a season. 4 players and all 55 million is gone, that's with Bosh and Wade taking massive paycuts.

They won't be able to add anything but MLE if James doesn't take a deal worth less then 18m a season with Bosh and Wade making roughly 12. Add in Haslem at 2-3 mil and they'd still have about 10 left. That gives them wiggle room, but James wants a max deal.....

The main target that's linked to Miami is Lowry and he's never had a big payday and is set to get a deal worth 10-12m a season. If what's being reported is true adding Lowry would give them 5-6 players making 70 million and no wiggle room to improve the team.

That's true. It will come down to what really motivates LeBron James at this time. Does he want to land a big, long term contract; or is he willing to take slightly less, in order to ensure his team can retool for a championship?

It could be possible that the Heat might be better off letting Bosh and Wade go. If they can get Lowry at $10-12m, Stephenson for $10-12m, Haslem at $3-4m, and perhaps Gortat for $8-10m. That along with $22m for LeBron puts them at $53-60m. Would Lowry / Stephenson / LeBron / Haslem / Gortat be an upgrade on their starting line up last season?

Not sure. It is going to be a difficult decision for the Heat in retooling this roster on the fly, unless they are willing to pay tons in tax to put together a big four that includes LeBron, Wade, Bosh and one other...

I think that would most definitely be better than their lineup last year, sadly.  Gortat is more of a true center than they have had, and I think that position is where they've had trouble against teams like SA and IND before.  Lowrey is a better PG than they've had, and Stephenson brings youth.  Wade is over the hill and Bosh, is probably still good, is not worth losing Lowrey, Gortat, etc.

I just dont see any way they can keep all their guys together plus add another big name FA.  Maybe if they all take huge paycuts they might be able to add a mid-tier FA, but if they do that I cant see anybody signing more than a 1 year deal (Lebron is not committing to 2-3 years making $10 mil under the max).

I could maybe see 1 more run from the Heat, but their window is pretty much over

Yeah it's all about their motivation.  If Lebron takes a cut just for titles/winning, then honestly he should just go to Cleveland where they have some pieces.  I don't think endorsements will be less in Clev, not for Lebron.

One thing to remember is less tax in Florida, so a paycut isn't always a paycut.

If LaBitch is wanting max money and a chance to compete The Suns are his best bet. He even has his choice of which buddy is offered a max contract between Bosh and Melo. If he really wants to play with Melo this would be is best bet. Although I doubt he will take the deal bc the west would best his ass on a nightly basis. Patiently waiting for McRoberts the throw another elbow at that POS.

It's not know that James will be back in Miami, Bosh and Wade will be coming back for roughly 15m each a season. They however have no idea what James wants to do after meeting with him, except that he wants a max.

Lebron has still refused to meet with anyone as far as I can tell, so I think he's still wanting to go back to the Heat... but if he wants an improved roster, he's going to need to go back soon so they can try to make some FA moves.

Absolutely zero chance Lebron goes back to Cleveland. Remember this?

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Yes, he still owns Cleveland. Why would Lebron want to go play for that guy again?

Well from what I have read, they actually talked a year later with Gilbert making a serious apology for that letter, and James apologizing for doing it the way he did. I also remember LeBron getting invited to big Z's retirement ceremony.

Maybe this is true, maybe not. I think there is a serious chance he goes back to Cleveland

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
