Heat Big 3 staying together

Recommended Posts

They're going to be in the same position as last year.

It's being reported that Bosh is looking for a 5yrs./$15 mil deal and LBJ is looking for a max (estimated at 5yrs/$26 mil). That would mean Wade would have to take a $10 mil per year contract so they could fill out the roster.

That's $54 mil wrapped up in five players (Napier, Wade, James, Bosh, Cole).

That means a bunch of these free agents are going to have to take $1 mil and $2 mil deals or the Heat will just have to re-sign all the guys from last season.

I firmly believe Heat will not be the best team in the NBA maybe top 5 but everyone is overreacting. Bosh is good but not great, D-Wade has too much thread, Ray last hooray, LeBron is awesome of course, Napier imo is put on a petal stool even as an unknown, birdman is the leading being post on man (overrated), and a weak ass bench.

Charlotte maybe a year out or two being top in the league but I have the weirdest feeling that the Hornets are going to be the Spurs of the East as long as we keep our core (minus Henderson and some minor upgrades). Our bench is going to be nasty and this team is young. Even with the team being so young, I do not feel it will affect the team's chances of being competitive.

id probably think that lebron will resign for $20m, bosh for $15m and wade $10m. this uses up $45m and leaves a further 10 to spend on filling out the remaining 6-7 spaces on the team.... it doesn't scare me. the team is good, but there's a formula to beating them if your good enough. the heat are going to get older and in my opinion are not going to be as good as last year. even if lowry somehow signs for them, it doesn't make up for the fact that wade is a shadow of the player he was.

if i were miami, id seriously consider not re-signing wade. its reported he expects 4 years/$55m - there is no way he's worth that now, imagine how much worse his knees are going to be in 2 years!

clearly they need to follow the blueprint that the spurs have taken with regard to veteran stars (albeit veterans that are no where near as old as the spurs!). they need to be surrounded by youth in order to compete. however much i respect ray allen, he cant be relied on to step up and save the heat off the bench and compete with 22 year old athletes.

No way they don't resign Wade. He wouldn't have opted out if they weren't. The only reason for him to opt out would be to help cap.

May they stay together, bring in yet another superstar, and flame out in grand fashion next spring.

I want them to get stung by a Hornet. Couldn't draw up a better way to tell the world we have arrived. Hopefully last season left a bad enough taste for us to have a chip on our shoulder against these guys to start a 80's style rivalry.

i completely agree with you that they will resign him, and part of me thinks its nice to see that the heat will show loyalty to a player that has given so much for them (without him i dont thin they win their first championship and definitely wouldnt have signed lebron).

but in professional sport, loyalty and sentiment do not result in success. when a player gets old, the best GM's/managers take away personal attachment for a player and cut them.

if you stand still in the foot race, you fall behind, and i think by resigning wade the heat (and lebron) stand still for the next 4 years (if he gets that long a deal).

still, if this means that the chances of the hornets improve, then let them stand still and we'll sprint past them!

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
