I pointed out in one of the training camp tweets that I don’t remember every hearing the front office and other players gushing about a running back to this degree. Neither Williams nor Stewart got this much praise as rookies.

Maybe Goodson is just a bit further along in his development, or perhaps everyone is just excited about his potential to play different positions.

It might be because Stewart and Williams were both first round picks, therefore had higher expectations.

I've been to a few practices and he does look MUCH smaller than Stewart and Williams.

If that’s the case, where was the hype for fellow third-round pick Steve Smith, another speedy guy who was brought in for his potential in the return game? Maybe my memory fails, but I don’t recall Smith being lauded as much as Goodson is now.

My thought of Goodson when he was first drafted was that of a poor man's Percey Harvin. That could be a good thing. Lower expectations and all. I'm thinking he may end up being a faster version of Nick Goings. Solid contributor that on occasion can make some big plays but not a starter.

I also wonder if drafting Goodson, who could sub as a WR and not a FB, allowed the team to go out and draft Fiammett (sp?) as Hoovers eventual replacement. I know a lot of people hate the "player who can play multiple positions" but they do serve a purpose when they are in a backup role.

I think too much hype has been put on him. If he cant be both a KR and a PR really other guys deserve that spot who could. I mean if everyone is so crazy about him cause he could be a WR then why not just have a WR? I have not hear much about Beavers but no one said he dropped any punts ether.... Also Goodson will have to put on some pounds. At 6-0 and 212 pounds Delhomme is bigger then him. Not a guy you want running at LBs.

from everything that i've read so far...

1. he's got speed, but not the pop that williams and stewart have in the backfield.

2. he's got good hands, but he can't catch a punt.

3. he can possibly play slot, but he may need to be in open space to be effective.

i'm not impressed.

LOL! As if either Williams and Stewart had all these things that you could easily see in the first week of TC.
