Vonleh Is A Wasted Pick!

I will just leave this here. I believe Vonleh has star type potential. Right now he is only 18, I believe he will have a huge impact on the Hornets and might potentially become the star that we was looking for. Looking at his game a little bit he reminds me of Surge Ibaka.

Check out this video and be happy. The Hornets are back and we will have a very good team.

Ibaka is a MUCH better defender / shotblocker

Vonleh is considerably better offensively skill wise coming out of the draft.

Not sure who I would compare Vonleh to atm.

Anybody that think Vonleh will be a bust knows nothing about Vonleh. Dude is a straight up beast on the defensive and offensive ends. Can score with ease with his left and right hands. Very physical player with a big body. Can also step outside and knock down threes. Love this pick

My take on his pros and cons:

Pros

His energy and active hands in the defensive post is incredible.

Very active hands.

Great rebounder.

Runs the floor well.

Can handle the ball incredibly well for his size.

Good shooter.

Slippery under the basket.

Great athletic base.

He'll probably end up being a 7 feet as he's 18 and still has to do some growing.

Cons (Most seem to be coachable)

Needs to be more aware of where his teammates are on the court....he misses easy passes.

Needs to develop more strength.

Needs to improve his footwork on the low block offensively.

Doesn't play high above the basket to challenge shots.

Can get confused on assignments defensively when drawn out the paint.

Overall.

I think this guy needs to have one coach long enough to develop his game. I've seen him insinuate in an interview that his coach at Michigan didn't utilize him correctly.  He doesn't seem dumb so I think he'll be able to develop his muscle memory and develop his on court feels better.  He has an extremely nice skill set that will compliment Big Al.  If he was expected to be "the" post presence for a team as a rookie I think he would struggle as he lacks strength, however I think where Vonleh is weak Jefferson is strong and where Jefferson is weak Vonleh is strong.

Regarding how it affects resigning McBob and the future of Zeller:

I think we saw how important it his to have front court depth in case Jefferson sustains injury.  I think we should resign McBob now even with Vonleh and Zeller.  McBob is pretty much a point forward/small forward mix.  We could really have some creative and extremely tall rotations that could really cause a lot of matchup problems.  I don't think it affects anything.

^^

You forgot he needs to develop his post game. It is still a little raw.

Also need to improve his shotblocking. 1.4 in not really ideal.

Your right, sort of meant with the foot work on the low block bullet....and yeah he doesn't need to make sure he doesn't always bring the ball through his chest.

This could POTENTIALLY be a wasted pick.

However, it could POTENTIALLY be an awesome pick.

Only time will tell.

U could literally say that about every player drafted in the first 15 to 20 picks. This is a broad & dumb meaningless thing to say.

I'm going to be honest, I am not nearly as high as you all are on vonleh, personally I think he won't be much in this league at all, not a quality starter. But I hope I am wrong, of course. I'd love for him to be rookie of the year and a star but I don't see him as a future star at all.
