Alonzo Gee Acquired From Cleveland For Haywood and Powell

maybe a future 2nd rounder

Maybe 2018 protected 2nd rounder or something like that.

Most people don't remember this but the Spurs traded Theo Ratliff to us for a future draft considerations.

The draft considerations was a top 55 protected pick that expired a year ago. Obviously the Spurs never saw the pick.

So currently we look like this:

PG: Kemba Walker ($3,452,183)

SG: Gerald Henderson ($6,000,000) / Gary Neal ($3,250,000) / PJ Hairston (rookie scale, roughly $958,100)

SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist ($5,016,960) / Jeff Taylor ($915,243)

PF: Cody Zeller ($4,030,560) / Noah Vonleh (rookie scale, roughly $2,103,500)

C: Al Jefferson ($13,500,000) / Bismack Biyumbo ($4,086,453)

Hopson (the guy we traded for) has an unguaranteed deal so I'm leaving him off because I believe he will be cut. All these numbers are based on hoops hype with the rookie scale coming from real GM. Using my own math here is our roster and salary breakdown:

Current salary: $43,312,999

Cap floor: $56,759,000

Salary Cap: $63,200,000

Tax Line: $76,829,000

Cash needed to hit floor: $13,446,001

Cap space: $19,887,001

We have 10 players under contract at this moment. With 2 points guards signed we would meet the minimum number of players. But I assume we will roll with 14 on our roster.

Conclusion: We have about $20 million cap space to spend before we are capped. $6 million more could be freed up by trading Hendo, but we have about $13.5 million before we even hit the floor, so no reason to even bother with only 4 players needed to sign.

I don't think we'll be able to move Henderson this year because he has the option for the extra year.

And what no one has been talking about is we will need to pay Big Al big money to keep him.  He's proved his worth, All Pro at the center position, teams will be lining up next year to get him, and we have no leverage.  If we can't get Lance this year, I'm for re-working Jefferson's contract for a significant raise to keep him here for multiple years.  And then find the missing piece next year in free agency.

Henderson and Neal account for 9 million, Jefferson for 13. We could lock Jefferson up and still have cap space remaining without needing any of our 19 million we have free right now. We're fine.
