No. 26 Pick: P.J. Hairston

Recommended Posts

Put his numbers up against theirs before posting.

No. numbers are deceiving since hes taking all the shots next to Al. Which other PGs aren't. Kemba isn't even top 15. He's nothing more than a sixth man. And is why we need to trade Hendo and go after Rondo. A TRUE PG that can pass score and defend. Score when he needs too.

Who else was going to take shots next to AL again??

Why don't you post the numbers and let others decide what's deceiving?

Plenty of guys say that. Doesnt mean its true. He wants to model is game after Harden (what SG doesnt? he is the best in the league lol) not necessarily that is who is game most resembles.

Harden has ZERO problems creating for himself because he has a very tight handle.

One of PJ's weaknesses is creating for himself because his handle is subpar - average at best.

Harden gets to the FT line at almost double the rate as PJ.

Also, Harden is darn good distributer churning up 6 assists a game. That is one of PJ's weaknesses. PJ doesnt even average ONE assist per game.

His interview? lol Come on now, we all know people / players have a tendency to over evaluate themselves.

The only thing PJ and Harden have in common is their skin color, a beard, and their position.

Comparing your game and your game being that caliber is two completely different things.

Hairston's game is modeled after Hardens and has some very strong characteristics of Hardens game just like Vonleh's game models Aldridge's.

You essentially wrote a paper to tell me that Hairston isn't as good as Harden... well obviously as he's a rookie.

Not quite. I wrote a paper explaining how their games are different. Not how their games are similar with Harden's simply being better at what they do.

What are these strong characteristics you speak of between PJ and Harden? lol

There are no two games that are completely a like in the NBA so I don't see why you felt the need to write about there differences.

Why not look at their similarities which are many.

There outside games are eerily similar, while P.J. isn't as good of a ball handler as Harden he's not nearly as bad as you make him out to be. During his time with the legends he added another element to his game (driving) which really completes the Harden comparison.

Like I said, don't take my word for it. Watch a FULL GAME of Hairston's during his time with the Legends.

Again, what are these "strong" similarities?

Will you chill lol, I'm on my phone I don't have time to do a huge write up.

Go watch one his games because no matter what I say you will argue it because that's the type of poster you are. For you seeing is believing.

So here's what you're going to do, go to YouTube, find the D-League channel, and find the game against the Vipers where Hairston dropped 40 and looked nearly identical to Harden.

LMAO you write a 5 lined response but can not even LIST one similarity?

No rush, you can tell me their similarities when you get home.

However, you wont because they do not have any significant similarities.

Check my second to last post.

Watch the games against the Vipers and Bighorns instead of throwing a fit and waiting on my response bud. He comes off screens in those games and knocks down mid-range shots, he shows his driving capability (not just straight line), he handles the ball significantly even bringing it up the court (Bighorns), he spots up from three consistently. The only thing that I haven't seen him do is create a shot off of multiple dribbles.

So let me get this straight, just because a SG added "driving" to their game they are similar to Harden?

Not many SGs in the league that don't drive to the hoop. It's a staple basketball move similar to shooting.

Making accurate comps go far beyond basic basketball staples. Things like where and how do they score most their points, their handle level, their shooting %'s and attempts, their usage, iso game, back to the basket game, distributing proficiency, etc etc.

And fyi, PJ didnt just add that to his game in the DL. He did those same hard lined drives while at UNC as well.

Comes off screens and knocks down mid range shots... Ok now we are getting somewhere.

Shows his driving capability... Almost everyone of his drives are off a hard ball fake & and hard dribble.

Just because he handles the ball alot in one game doesnt mean he has a good handle. PJ's handle is subpar to average at best (thats being generous). You do not want to see PJ trying to get fancy off the dribble.

Spots up from 3. Most SG's do that.

Again, when making comps you need to look at a players bread n butter ie How they make a living in the NBA.

Harden makes his living attacking the basket and getting to the line with a few 3's thrown in.

PJ will make his living getting hot from 3 with a few drives and mid range jumpers thrown in.

Just like I said, you'll argue with anything or anyone.

I've suggested you watch the games but with summer league coming up, you'll see soon enough.

I fuggin love this pick. PJ is an ideal SG and can get hot in hurry. He needs to be starting day 1.

The only knock on him is his handle could be a bit tighter. Surprisingly though he is pretty good at the jab step and hard dribble to get into the lane.

Of course you do. Put your boner away.
