No. 26 Pick: P.J. Hairston

Recommended Posts

How about the 1st PJ Hairston.

Hope people will remember he is still a rookie and has yet to play more then 30 games in a season so he will have some struggles the first year getting acquainted to the rigors of a full schedule.

If he puts it together... James Harden.

As a Carolina fan and probably one of the few that actually watched his games with the Legends (the D-League has a live streaming YouTube channel), I will say he reminds me so much of Harden. Their games are nearly identical.

I hope you mean offensively only.

He will never be Harden because simply because him improving his handle from subpar to great is just not realistic. Not many SG's in the NBA have that tight of a handle.

Games are not alike.

Harden lives off of dribble penetration and getting to the FT line.

PJ lives off of getting hot from 3 with a few hard straight line drives a game.

You obviously haven't seen him play in a while.

Why don't you try watching a few of his D-League games before you make a comment like that (the whole thing, not highlights).

He's not even remotely close to the player he was at UNC.

During his interview, even he compared his game to Harden's and I'm pretty sure he knows his game better than you do.

We have a PG averaging 17.7/4/6 who is clearly progressing after only his third year in the league. Does nobody remember how he was averaging nearly 20 points and 8 assists for the second half of the season? Kemba will never be the pest PG in the league but I'll take someone averaging what he is averaging any day of the week.

Progress despite three HC's and three different offenses in each of his first three years.

Kemba is damn good. He has holes in his game, but he's a hard worker with a ton of talent. No reason not to believe in him.

Plenty of guys say that. Doesnt mean its true. He wants to model is game after Harden (what SG doesnt? he is the best in the league lol) not necessarily that is who is game most resembles.

Harden has ZERO problems creating for himself because he has a very tight handle.

One of PJ's weaknesses is creating for himself because his handle is subpar - average at best.

Harden gets to the FT line at almost double the rate as PJ.

Also, Harden is darn good distributer churning up 6 assists a game. That is one of PJ's weaknesses. PJ doesnt even average ONE assist per game.

His interview? lol Come on now, we all know people / players have a tendency to over evaluate themselves.

The only thing PJ and Harden have in common is their skin color, a beard, and their position.

How about a more athletic Mitch Richmond.

I like that comparison....even though Mitch Richmond is probably one of the most underrated players in  the past 20 years.

A player that he compares with realistically in year one in terms of what I expect offensively is JR Smith.  As he progresses maybe he turns into a player like Harden.  Nick Anderson with the Magic in the 90's is also a player that I see some similarities too just a more athletic version.

The X-factor to me when it comes to Hairston is his competitive spirit.  I think that's going to be his defining characteristic in terms of his potential.  He seems a little droopyish. If he commits, buys in, and becomes about the team his potential will come to fruition.

I see Richmond in his game because of the big body finishing with contact game he has. On most nights he is going to be able to out muscle other SG. Like Richmond use to do.

I don't see the JR Smith thing because of body type and Smith is way more explosive in his game then Harriston.
