No.9 Pick : Noah Vonleh

Vonleh probably spells the end for bismack . Zeller can play both the 4/5 & I think they resign mcroberts as long as the price is not to steep

It would be silly for them to part with Bismack after him playing the best ball of his career last year in spot duty at only 21 years old to this day. He shot 61% from the field in those limited minutes. Probably the best interior defender we've got. If Tyson Chandler's career has taught us anything, it's that if you can defend and rebound in this league you can play in this league.

I still don't get why we're taking a PF when we just drafted Cody Zeller last year. But if he does end up being the next Chris Bosh it's a great pick.

Because Zeller will most likely never be a starting caliber talent.  I never thought they expected him to be.  He can be a good role player off the bench backing up PF/C, but Vonleh has the potential to be a starter and really good.

And we have no one to backup Zeller even if he starts, right now.  McBob may be gone, who knows.

The idea behind drafting Vonleh right after Zeller is

1) BPA

2) There are plenty of minutes available for both right now, Vonleh is very young and wont be playing huge minutes from day 1.  There are 48 minutes in a game at PF for them to split and Zeller can possibly get more minutes backing up Al at C

If only one of them pans out, we've got a starting PF and a good backup at the 4/5.   If both turn out to be starting level talents, maybe you have to trade one, but thats a good problem to have. And by that point, Big Al will be getting older and may be playing fewer minutes.  In 3 years or so we could have a big man rotation with Vonleh/ Zeller/ Jefferson where each guy plays about 32 min/ game

Not looking good for Biz though, he is gonna really need to prove something this year or he is gone

Probably one of the only guys we didn't discuss on here, lol. Love the pick. Great upside, great fit for us. Don't see how anyone could bash this. Tremendous luck, but fantastic for us.

I've read a few mentions of him on here, but no one thought he would legitimately fall to us a number 9 so there was no deep elaboration.

Thank you Detroit.

Only 18. Perfect compliment to Big AL.

Side Note:  Did you see those Mfing Handles for a player his size??? Learning from Big AL and Pat Ewing are you not kissing the ground that Cho walks on yet?????

Potential is through the roof! He has size, length, a great motor, great rebounder and three point ability. The main thing that everyone should notice is his ball handling skills are amazing for his size!!! The hook shot he has is nasty and once perfected.....Kareem potential. He needs some coaching but I am stunned that he fell to the Hornets.

I am loving the high risk high reward style tonight. Cho had the Heat's balls in his hand and ended getting this team flexibility for the future while getting his guy. Cho was rolling the dice tonight and winning. I am excited for the team's future and Noah, a potential superstar!!!

Once they get this kid in the weight room he's going to be tough to stop.  It's incredibly rare for a guy his size to have that kind of coordination handling the basketball.

I love this pick and I hate to be a Debbie downer but seeing his weakness scares me and reminds of of Bismack. Raw footwork and trouble catching passes. But I believe he's way beyond Bismack so dosent worry me too much. Could be a star that averages 18/10 down the road. Great pick

thinking about it... long term this is really exciting, but for next year, if we're rotating zeller and vonleh at the 4 it could be difficult. maybe we need to sign a vet in free agency just to give us some experience at the 4 in the short term

I think Vonleh has a chance to contribute quite nicely next year.  He's a stretch 4 that can blow by you if you extend to far on the perimeter defensively.   He has a slippery game.  In fact I really think he could SF in some lineups considering he was a guard in HS.

Imagine how our roster would look if we wanted to go big.

PG:  Walker

SG: Hairston

SF: Vonleh

PF:  Zeller

C: Jefferson
