The point is/was: Most of these guys are bad at predictions, so why bother starting a thread documenting all the bad predictions. As I said previously, it would last for days, take up multiple pages.

I gave you examples of above average sources, you may have missed that.

here they are.

I think its more than fair to say that Grantland, FootballOutsiders, and Emory Hunt Jr. (The Czar) do a great job of providing good information thats digestible. Those are examples of experts that are above average if not better.

Im not sure why our dialog ended here. What do you think of these sources? I consider you a smart guy and make a point to read your posts. Do you not think these are good sources that are "above average"? Surely you have visited these sites. What is below average about them?

They aren't dumb they are just lazy

Well they want ratings, T. I dont know about lazy, maybe that too, but they want ratings. That requires them to pander to the large markets and in order to keep themselves looking balanced they have poo on someone's team. Why not pick "small market Carolina"?

to which I say, they really need to do more research on markets

Here's a comparison of all sports teams in the world

a lot of people had the texans and falcons going to the super bowl, not just schein.

this thread is stupid.

and not just because of that. but everyone gets things wrong. you will probably make dozens of stupid fuging predictions about teams that wind up completely opposite for the upcoming year.

stop being a losernerd who scours the internet for writers saying bad things about the team, who cares

No one is arguing good INFORMATION. I had already addressed this in previous post. That is totally different than documenting bad writers, or worse bad prognosticators/Savants. They all come a dime a dozen and are par for the course (as has been said numerous times). This is why I ignored you.

The point was already made numerous times (by me and others).

Well you said "theyre all below average" and then clarified meaning most. This is besides the point because there are some that exist that are good. If there are some exist that are good why should I not expect more of them to be good. You say because its hard, right? However, those sources arent necessarily more right than others though. Theyre good because they do a better job of presenting information and explaining why it is rational.

Regardless, I think its a pitiful excuse to say  "but. .  but. .  my job is hard". Lots of peoples jobs are hard and lots of people get criticized for it anyways. . . like the athletes that they write about. Its only fair to turn the tables then isnt it? You dont want to participate in the criticism and thats fine you dont have to. I personally enjoy laughing at their failures since many of them have decided to belittle my team and city. I think there are many others here on the huddle that do the same because we feel vindicated when they reveal just how irrational they are. It makes me laugh and smile when someone like Schein says 'Carolina is going nowhere with Cam and Ron' only to see the Panthers go 12-4. That, to me, is hilarious.

edit: you think this thread will go a mile long. . lol I hope so. Im so bored.

Every sports writer, write out of their ass.

And when it comes to predicting, they are no better than the casual fan.

So I fail to see how any idiotic writer is going to lose something he never had to begin with.

The irony is: They're all bad (when it comes to predictions). Ex Coaches, Writers, Players, Broadcaster's, etc.. Doesn't matter. Lol. This has been proven over and over again in so many ways. It's not easy.

And an almost equal, probably slightly smaller percentage are bad writers and analyst (if they try to cover the entire league), usually 'pulling stuff out of their ass" as you noted".

The key for writers, is to "know their subject". The Key for analyst is; tell good stories, analogies, comparisons, experiences; what's happening on the field, then trying to be a terrible prognosticators or talking about teams you don't know.

Note: I didn't read what you wrote yet (if I even do), cause this is become a bit tedious and redundant.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure, I and many other Panther fans, will go after reckless writers before and during the season. No doubt. I have no problem with that.

However, to semi-officially document writers who bad mouth, or make poor predictions on the Panthers would to too many (as been noted numerous times), especially when the Panthers haven't had back to back winning seasons--ever in it's NFL existence. So it's not like it's a total slap in the face for these writers to be wrong about the Panthers. They don't care!

The Panthers aren't exactly the late 80's San Francisco 49ers, or early 90's Jimmy Johnson Cowboys. They haven't won anything, ever (or come close recently).
