Isportsweb: Raiders need to trade Moore

top dawg

Recommended Posts

he has much more big play potential than Lafell ever did, so that makes him more valuable than him off the bat even if their consistency issues are about equal.  that said, i think DG feels the roster is set and I'd be surprised if he brings in a WR at this point.

No, it resulted in the shipping off of an unfocused RB (Goodson) for a hulking LT (Campbell) who never saw the field.

oooh good catch.

now that I think about it, didn't we get goodson's pick with the same trade that got us hardy's pick?

...gives me pause

OK. Sure Moore hasn't displayed the best hands, but they aren't the worst. He had a 7% drop rate in 2013. which also happens to be the exact rate that LaFell had last season. But keeping things in perspective, there are guys like Kenny Britt, Cecil Shorts,  Tavon Austin, Wes Welker, Brandon Marshall and some others with a worse drop percentage. Hell, even Reggie Wayne and Stevie Johnson were at 6.9%.

As far as the hot reads, I don't know.  I do know that Proehl is one of the best in the business, and I believe that he could help Moore develop a lot. It's not like Moore would be coming in with expectations to be our primary receiver, but to have that other legit play maker on the field would keep defenses honest. Unlike LaFell who basically just couldn't get open or be the focal point of the offense, Moore has proven that he can. To me, a 6th round pick is not too much to pay for a guy with Moore's upside, particularly for a team that needs legitimate weapons and is can see the light at the end of the tunnel in regards to competing for championships.
