If they used all their remaining cap space on one player, could they not then use the MLE on another?

I looked into it more, apparently teams with cap space get a smaller exception in the new CBA.  Instead of the normal MLE around $5 mil, we get an exception worth $2.5 mil (which is very similar to what we gave Roberts)

Because Blatche is a center, not a combo forward.

When your backup center is a one-dimensional rim protector that has some of the worst hand-eye in the league, you might want to invest in a better back up.

He's a PF/C, and in Washington, he mostly played PF, which is probably his preferred position.

I don't follow Blatche closely on if he ever had a history in Charlotte but I know he has family here. I used to coach his nephew in Charlotte for an AAU team.

He looked fine at center for Brooklyn last year.

I've also never heard him say he prefers power forward over center. Personally, I don't think he cares where he plays as long as he gets the opportunity to play.

I do not.

However, I think our management will. There's only one player that I can remember us not qualifying and it was D.J. Augustin (technically we did qualify him but rescinded the QO).
