Apparently Gordon Hayward is signing with the Cavs. Max deal, if not close to.

Sent from my iPhone using CarolinaHuddle

so many teams interested in hayward now, theres no way he doesn't get the max extension (along with the cav's, the suns, celtics and of course jazz want him). i thought phoenix would have been the best fit for him

At the rate this FA is going I feel we should just go ahead and offer Lance a max deal and go from there

Or we could let everyone burn their cap and sign some mid tier guys this year, with an eye towards being players in FA in upcoming years where teams are cap strapped.

Doesn't Utah have the right to match whatever anyone else throws at Hayward??

as a RFA they do,

im hoping someone might be able to tell me if hypothetically utah match a max contract offer made by another team, does hayward have to sign with utah or can he decide he would prefer to go to the other team? or for that matter could he decide to go to a team offering less money if he has a greater desire to go there (location over money)?

its something that i've wanted to know for years!

He would have to sign with Utah. He signs offer sheet with lets say the Cavs... Utah has a week to match offer or let him go.

Hayward could get offered 12 million from lets say the Hornets and chose that over anything and Utah could just match. Whatever he signs as an offer sheet is what Jazz can match even if it was less than say what they offered originally.

To best of my knowledge.

With the new CBA it is only 3 days to match. Other than that you were 100% correct.

    • The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So... Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.
    • According to the talking heads of the sports world, this is a pretty meh QB class.  Sanders and Ward are the only two with first round buzz, but the rest are blah.  Take that for what you will. Let's see how Bryce does in year three.  That's just where we are.  Patience is the key here.  Players need time to develop.  They can't develop if they don't play.  Bryce has made some really good throws, but he doesn't look like CJ Stroud.  That's going to be his point of comparison the rest of their careers.  The ball doesn't explode off Bryce's hand, it's not a cannon ball shot out of a cannon.  He's not going to break a 70 yard run.   Bryce is going to have to continue to make good throws and make plays.  Part of that is going to depend on the play calls.  Part of it is based on the skill players.  A couple drops picked up yesterday and it's a win and Bryce throws 1-2 more TDs.  A completely different story. It's been a crazy year indeed.  I just want to see Bryce continue to develop.  To see XL become more consistent.  To see JT fully recover (not play this season if he's not healthy).  I want to see Coker continue to make plays.  I'd love to see Brooks get more touches and Chubba continue to hammer defenses. Then this approaching offseason, let's go back to the D and work on fixing it.
    • Prime is already gone boss.  Nothing left for team Sanders in college football.
