Avant was not a Chip Kelly Type of Receiver

Well, I actually don't care at the end of the day. It's just another little story line that makes the NFL more interesting in my opinion. "Hate" is an exaggeration. "Disdain" for Kelly's attitude and status as an NFL "genius" after one season is more accurate.

How does that status affect you? That's right it doesn't. Coach coaches well. People praise coach. Other people from other fan bases hate coach for no reason. Smh

I saw a lot of the same people in this thread calling chip a Steve spurrier and that he was going to massively fail. He has came into the league and went straight to the playoffs so people obviously still have to throw out dumb hate to make themselves feel better

One season in a horrible division is enough to declare him a genius?

I think that it remains to be seen whether or not Kelly "coaches well", but even if some don't it really doesn't matter. It's all just opinion.

It seems to me that you're the one taking it too seriously and out of context.  I have already explained that I don't "hate" Kelly, and I have already explained to you why Kelly's status is of interest to me.

There are others way more negatively descriptive of the man than I am.  Most people don't appreciate arrogance in general, especially from someone who hasn't paid their dues.  I don't know what more to tell you.

At the end of the day, I guess that most of us who aren't directly (or indirectly) related to the NFL is truly affected by one single thing that goes on in the league.  We decide what interest us regarding the league, and what doesn't.   Subplots and story lines, winners and losers, heels and heroes, etc. make life more entertaining.

You are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine. I don't see other fans "hating" a coach for no reason---their team's or some other teams'.  Sometimes it's simply about real, perceived or imagined rivalries.

Ultimately, it's not as serious as your tone suggests.

My tone is fine. I'm not speaking on imagined arrogance. You are.

One season in a horrible division is enough to declare him a genius?

no, i think lining up into formations as such declared that for him.

Panthers1c.png

4 TE  double twin set, lined up in a stack formation. he probably has a read option out of this formation that gives him several options as well.

Panthers2a.png

another 4 TE set, with RB to the twin TE side, and 2 TEs on the other side. 1 on the LOS, and the other just off. again, this formation could cause several match up problems, such as a 5'8 nickel guy, guarding a 6'5 TE.

Chip does seem smart enough to realize that he will have to cater some of his offensive philosophy to help his entire team be successful. whether that be by play design, calls, or tempo i think Chip will make the appropriate changes needed.

So we are just going to try to play down accomplishments now?

Take a look at nick foles and lesean McCoy before and after he got there.

Don't know what you are going to do, but I am going to wait to see how he performs in coming seasons.

People were proclaiming Greg Schiano a roaring success after year one too.

I don't remember all that much love for Kelly here.

There were one or two (Rayzor was a big fan, I know).

I've seen enough college guys look good for a year then fail after opposing DCs figured out how to nullify their schemes that I'm prone to wait to see what happens there.

It's entirely possible he could be a success, but its premature to say he is one already.

And it's "imagined" arrogance because you say it is.  OK.

And, BTW, the question of Chip Kelly's "imagined" arrogance, or first popped up here on the Huddle, right?

Dude, if you want to support, protect, or love Chip Kelly, then carry on.  I have explained to you that you are taking things way too seriously, and tried to explain why others might have a problem with Kelly.  You don't agree. So be it.

I am not going to keep going around in circles, but I will end this by saying that if Chip Kelly "butted heads" with a known good guy, Jason Avant, then it doesn't make me feel all warmhearted about the guy.  Simple as that.

"When it came to certain things, we butted heads sometimes-- route running and route technique," Avant explained. "So I knew I didn't fit his system."

They butted-heads over route running and route technique. Big deal. Two grown adults can have a disagreement about something without either one of them being an asshole. From reading Avant's quotes it sure doesn't sound like he is holding any type of grudge or special hatred for Kelly.
