Avant was not a Chip Kelly Type of Receiver

top dawg

Jason Avant is at best a solid receiving option. That is at best. But to be that in the nfl for as long as he has is exactly why he's signed. He is saying that he couldn't get with the chip Kelly poo. The OP could very well be correct in thinking Kelly is just running some wild offense that won't stick and Philly will be in an uproar over it. Or avant can play here and be a solid rotation player at receiver. Or both. Or neither. I know there's little fun in that but it's the fact of the matter. No real story here IMO.

So Chip Kelly gets rid of Deshaun Jackson and replaces him with a 2nd round rookie and gets rid of Avant and he's a genius, but Gettleman replaces a 35 year old Smitty with a first round rookie and gets rid of Donald Lafell and he's and idiot that has assembled the worst WR corp in NFL history...mmmkay.

THANK YOU!!

Where is this irrational chip kelly hate coming from? First year in the league and he makes a kid like foles a probowler and MVP candidate.

You guys literally will hate anything not panthers smh

Foles made Kelly not the other way around. Kid was way more pro ready than people give him credit for.

Nearly everyone on this board was drooling to get him and went on Richardson tirades when we didn't fire Rivera for him. Now he's had a winning season and people are questioning him and calling him overrated. Well, that's one way to be a hypocrite.

Do you think that you might be exaggerating there just a tiny bit?

I agree. I've watched many Oregon games (as a Wash St. Grad) and this is too true. Chip Kelly's uptempo offense can really destroy his defense. Although, in college ball he used his offense as his defense and just tried to out score opponents.

However, it doesn't work as smoothly in the pros because he doesn't have a crop of young fresh and quick athletes. He will definitely need to adapt some of his strategies and plays to fit the level he is at now.

And as for the Kelly hate, I should probably give him a massive amount of hate from all those years in Oregon where he demoralized my team and other teams. But, he was really a great college coach, so he has the right to be a bit arrogant.

Funny thing is I actually misspoke in the other thread.  Technically you only have 45 players on gameday, not 53.

I don't get the traditional old man approach  and sacred cow thing. It's just entertainment.

I don't think most people have any problem with new ideas and innovations.  What people find annoying is someone getting crowned a king before they've actually accomplished anything.

(something which, ironically, happens a lot on here; as does being declared a failure without ever taking a snap).

Of course, it doesn't help that Kelly actually is kind of an arrogant prick.

I don't remember it that way regarding Kelly. Kelly was just like any proposed coach: some liked him, some didn't.

In regards to Rivera, yeah there were many who wanted him gone, but there were still more than a few who called for patience.

As for me, I always thought Rivera deserved another season, and I thought that Richardson would give him that. As a result, I never gave the calls for Chip to Carolina the time of day.

Why in the hell do you care so much? A lot of hate in your heart I sense *yoda voice*

Well, I actually don't care at the end of the day.  It's just another little story line that makes the NFL more interesting in my opinion.  "Hate" is an exaggeration. "Disdain" for Kelly's attitude and status as an NFL "genius" after one season is more accurate.

I saw a lot of the same people in this thread calling chip a Steve spurrier and that he was going to massively fail. He has came into the league and went straight to the playoffs so people obviously still have to throw out dumb hate to make themselves feel better
