Hornets willing to part with #9 for Afflalo

Where is all this nonsense coming from that it Afflalo would be a rental?

Does half the board work for the Hornets front office and no something that the other half doesn't?

I think as a fan base we need to temper our expectations. The NBA Draft is nothing like the NFL Draft, just because you have a top 10 pick doesn't mean you are guaranteed a premier player, it's much more of a crap shoot.

Out of the teams that picked in the top 10 in the 2012 NBA Draft (I'm not even going to discuss last years draft) only three teams came away with premier players (Drummond, Lillard, and Davis).

Furthermore out of the last three drafts, there are only three players (Irving, Lillard, and Davis) that are averaging more points per game than Afflalo.

So unless you truly believe that one of these potential picks has the chance to be a legitimate game changer in the the next two years, you should definitely be open to trading the pick.

One thing we can all learn from Cleveland... just because you have a top 10 pick doesn't mean you have to use it. Tell me, how are Irving, Thompson, Waiters, and Bennett doing right now?

Everyone but bennett has been productive solid players in the league

NBA Legion@MySportsLegion 53m

The Magic are offering Arron Afflalo, the 4th and 12th overall picks to the Cavs for the 1st pick. Cavs have interest in doing deal. (ESPN)

Cavs better take Wiggins or Parker, 4 and 12 probably aren't going to get anyone near the caliber of Wiggins or parker

I think Henderson, #9 & #45 (or #24) for Affalo & #12 would be fair for both teams.

Orlando gets to move up, get an extra pick(s) to help rebuild their roster and trade Affalo before his contract expires.

Charlotte gets a scoring SG that they need & keep at least one 1st rounder for hopefully another scorer.

I can't tell u what we will do. But I know he will opt out for money which we won't have. And yes I know we can go over to sign our own players. But we will already be we'll over with this years free agency and players salaries going up and resigning big al and Kemba and Bismack.

I would rather take potential that could develop into a solid 10- 15 year player that could possibly be a star down the road over a 1-2 year rental of a good overall player.

I disagree with your comparison of the nba and NFL. The nfl u can go deep into first rounds and second rounds and even third round to get a starter or a very good player. But in the NBA the top half of the draft is the best chance to land superstars and despite your opinion of the talent discrepancy between 9-20 they very we'll may be one at 9 and we would have a better opportunity of landing him with a higher pick... Whoever that might be. Just saying

But I'm pretty sure cho will do what's best for the team. And if he thinks trading our possible future away for a rental of affalo will help us contend(it won't) then all power to him.

Money we don't have?

If we pick up MKG's and Zeller's option, Big Al opts in, we re-sign Kemba for $10 mil, and re-sign Biz for $5 mil (like you mentioned we can go over to re-sign them) we would be looking at a total salary of $45 million with a projected cap of $66 million ($21 mil in cap space). Furthermore there are ways around the cap to even expand that number (i.e. what Houston is doing with Parson's).

As far as being well over this year, I highly doubt it. Jordan won't go more than $5 mil over the cap.

And I never argued that the NFL was deeper than the NBA, what I argued was that the talent doesn't develop as well. Yes you are more liable to draft a superstar at the top of the draft but it's going to be int the top 5, not the top 10. Yes there are scenarios that a rise where players get drafted outside of the top 10 and turn into superstars but look who those teams are (San Antonio, Indiana etc.. teams that draft well). Oh and before you start trying to list superstars drafted outside of the top ten, in my opinion at the very least you have to be an all-star and an all-NBA player to even get consideration as a superstar.

Finally, quit calling him (Afflalo) a rental. You are talking about a subject that you absolutely have no knowledge of, none of us do. That is like me saying that if we keep our pick we'll draft a bust... truth is, none of us know.

Your correct none of us know. But it is very very very likely that he will opt out of 7.5 mil contract coming off of his best years. C'mon u gotta admit that's it's very likely

Oh yeah, I don't see a scenario where he doesn't opt out but I think the idea of winning (if we can get to the playoffs) coupled maybe with $10 mil a season would be reason enough to re-sign.

Yeah I could see that too. But I also feel big al opts out looking for a big contract and by that time we will have a ton of money committed to all of our players.

So I'm asking are u ok with affalo being our big acquisition this year. Bc when I add him then resign Mcbob, I don't see a lot of money to work with. Followed by a big contract for big al next year and Kemba and Bismack and zeller and MKGs salaries raising a few mill. I'm just cautious.

If we was only one player away from contending I could understand it. I just have more hope for our team than a 6th seed. And just my opinion that we would need a few key players.

But idk about our future. Just wanting the best like all of us. We are all hornet fans and want to win.

Am I okay with it, I guess I am. Would I rather have Stephenson... absolutely.
