Hornets willing to part with #9 for Afflalo

Did u not read the part where I said except hit threes. They don't have the ability to break someone down off the dribble. Average handling. Good mid range scorers. Plays good defense. Only thing affalo does is shoot 3's better.

And don't at me wrong guys. I like affalo. Definetely want him but not at the expense of the 9th overall pick for a average player. No thank u.

I have a little more hope for 9th overall pick than Affalo. That's all

If he was average player he wouldn't be ranked in the top 8 in all offensive statistical category. He's an above average shooting guard that gets no exposure because he's played on garbage teams for his entire career.

Is he elite... no

Is he at his peak... probably

Is he worth the ninth pick in a draft where pick 9 and pick 24 are producing the same level of talent... absolutely (there is a solid chance that James Young who could be available at 24 turns out to be a better player than Stauskas).

You need to temper your expectations for the ninth overall pick. Why don't you go listen to what Clifford has to say about players making immediate impacts and what he prefers (veteran players).

I seriously don't think you've watched him play very much before with statements like that. He isn't just a better shooter, he is a much better iso player, much better handles. The only thing Hendo has on him is leaping, which isn't important in a guard. And just the fact that he is a great shooter makes him much more worthwhile to our system. And who will be there at 9 who will be better than Afflalo?

McDermott? No way he is better anytime soon, he has to change his game too much.

Stauskaus? I love Staus, but Afflalo does everything he does plus a ton more.

Can we find a player at 9 that makes a bigger impact than affalo? Yes without a doubt bc he will be here one here. Not too mention that we will have 16 million dedicated to shooting guards.

And our hope of signing a big name in free agency will also be out the window. Just to add AFFALO

Where is all this nonsense coming from that it Afflalo would be a rental?

Does half the board work for the Hornets front office and no something that the other half doesn't?

I think as a fan base we need to temper our expectations. The NBA Draft is nothing like the NFL Draft, just because you have a top 10 pick doesn't mean you are guaranteed a premier player, it's much more of a crap shoot.

Out of the teams that picked in the top 10 in the 2012 NBA Draft (I'm not even going to discuss last years draft) only three teams came away with premier players (Drummond, Lillard, and Davis).

Furthermore out of the last three drafts, there are only three players (Irving, Lillard, and Davis) that are averaging more points per game than Afflalo.

So unless you truly believe that one of these potential picks has the chance to be a legitimate game changer in the the next two years, you should definitely be open to trading the pick.

One thing we can all learn from Cleveland... just because you have a top 10 pick doesn't mean you have to use it. Tell me, how are Irving, Thompson, Waiters, and Bennett doing right now?

I can't tell u what we will do. But I know he will opt out for money which we won't have. And yes I know we can go over to sign our own players. But we will already be we'll over with this years free agency and players salaries going up and resigning big al and Kemba and Bismack.

I would rather take potential that could develop into a solid 10- 15 year player that could possibly be a star down the road over a 1-2 year rental of a good overall player.

I disagree with your comparison of the nba and NFL. The nfl u can go deep into first rounds and second rounds and even third round to get a starter or a very good player. But in the NBA the top half of the draft is the best chance to land superstars and despite your opinion of the talent discrepancy between 9-20 they very we'll may be one at 9 and we would have a better opportunity of landing him with a higher pick... Whoever that might be. Just saying

But I'm pretty sure cho will do what's best for the team. And if he thinks trading our possible future away for a rental of affalo will help us contend(it won't) then all power to him.

    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
    • There is zero reason to sit him if he is ready to go.  Putting him on a shelf and attempting to protect does him no favors.
    • Stroud us nit the first QB thus franchise has missed on. He also won't be the last.
