LeBron James Opts Out

Recommended Posts

If I were the Heat I'd wait till he officially opts out And then offer him the league min. If he wants attention and hold a team hostage until he gets his way screw him, he needs to go out and buy his own team. The employee doesn't run the business.

And yet those employees did just win 2 titles for Miami.  If you build your team through free agency you have to be willing to lose your team in free agency

The most intriguing move on the mind of James and his camp, sources told Yahoo Sports, would be a sign-and-trade scenario with the Los Angeles Clippers in which James could play with close friend Chris Pauland under president-coach Doc Rivers. Nevertheless, Miami has remained the primary consideration for James, sources said. He wants to see Riley's plans for improving the roster.

I bet the Lakers have got a hard-on, now with Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James on the market. They have the means to get both guys in. Imagine that as a big three - Kobe, LeBron and Melo in LA...

PG: Nash

SG: Kobe

SF: Melo

PF: LeBron

C: ?

It would top it off if Embiid falls to them at #7. He'd give them a big, athletic, defensive big.

It wouldn't surprise me to see one or both of these guys end up at the Lakers...

Everyone must stop with this bullshit. Melo and LeBron are not going to take chump change to play with a washed up has-been who is making 25 mil while they are making practically nothing. They would team up any where else before they'd do it in LA

Scenarios I see:

First, see how the draft plays out.....

-He stays with Miami and uses this as leverage to get a better supporting cast, 2-yr deal to opt out next year if he wants
-The Rockets, Mavs, Clippers, Wizards(??) make a run at him
-Don't see Brooklyn, Chicago, SA, or LAL in the equation

0% chance he goes to you guys. In fact, if there were a number less than zero, that would be more accurate.

I think he'll resign with Miami.

He's only going to a winner, and a big time city. I think he'll be a Clipper if not a member of the Heat again. Makes the most sense. I can't work the numbers, but Paul, James, and Griffin is nasty nasty.

True, but it's the Lakers and perhaps they get creative. But like you say, it isn't realistic for both, though one of them could end up as Kobe's sidekick.

Also, keep telling yourself that Kobe is washed up. Before his injuries at the end of the 2012-13 season, he was playing at an all star level averaging 27ppg in regular season and 30ppg in the play offs. So when he gets back healthy, it wouldn't surprise me to see him continue putting up 20ppg or more because the guy is still one of the best SGs in the league. If he was healthy, he'd be the best player on the roster right now. Though perhaps you are still sore on him having success in LA instead of here where he was drafted...

Someone like Melo or LeBron should consider Dallas. They'd get max money, plus they'd get a star player to pair with in Dirk, and a decent third player in Ellis. They also have the cap space to then build a strong supporting cast.

Calderon / Larkin

Ellis / Carter

LeBron or Melo / Marion / Crowder

Dirk / Wright / Blair

Gasol or Gortat / Dalembert

I think they could compete for a title. Obviously PG isn't great, but Ellis can take some pressure off and distribute the ball. But overall it's a solid line up, with good rotation players. Might need some sacrifice but Dirk has said he will take a cut, and I'm sure Marion and Carter will want to chase a title. I think Dallas could be a good landing spot for either guy.

Ok. And during this season he was averaging 13 points per game. LeBron James will be no one's sidekick, they will be his. I'll tell you that for sure. Kobe is washed up and a hasbeen

He averaged 13 ppg coming off an injury, and some have argued he came back too soon. It can happen. But if Kobe is motivated and his injuries haven't affected his ability on court, then he's the type of guy that can still be a winner.

Now I do agree that LeBron won't be his sidekick, and vice versa. But a Kobe-LeBron pairing could be quite effective since both are two great players. It will be difficult if Kobe comes back and averages 13ppg because his injuries have crippled him so to speak. But if he's healthy and can repeat the form he was in 2012-13, then he's an upgrade on D-Wade and Bosh.

    • As I said less than 10 minutes into the game, Boston looks nothing like we're used to seeing. Regardless, any curb-stomping of the Bruins is welcome.  The scorers all got the glory tonight, but all 6 D-men had excellent games. Across the board- Gost, Orlov, Chatty, Walker and, of course, Slavin & Burns.
    • I just tried a few mock draft simulators and this is the only way lol. Nothing else makes sense.
    • No, biggest weakness is pass rush, but I don't think there is a blue chip can't miss DE prospect to take at #1 this year, same as with QB.  But beyond that, moving forward, yea WR is a pretty damn big weakness. We have 1 game this season over 224 yards passing and just traded away our best WR (who wasn't going to re-sign here anyways).  That WR no longer on the team was also the only player we've had this year who had over 78 yards receiving in a game.  So again, yea, WR is one of our biggest weaknesses even right now, let alone moving into the future. As I just said in my other post, I love Legette, but he's not going to be a Top 5-10 WR type of guy, Top 15-20 I can see, I think he can be a good #1 WR or an elite #2. After that, what do we have for the future?  Thielen isn't part of it, sure as hell isn't going to be Mingo, and as much as we all like Coker, in no world is Coker as our #2 to Legette as the #1 going be considered as "having weapons" at WR, even with Brooks and Sanders. But put someone like T-Mac into that group, who I genuinely think is going to be a Top 5 WR in this league for a long time, and it changes things.  A Top 5 WR with Legette/Coker as the 2/3, along with Brooks and Sanders, has the potential to be one of the best set of offensive weapons in the league if they reach their potential.
