Vince Young will be in the Hall of Fame

Oh, so you are only pulling so hard for Vince Young to succeed because he is a winner?

The color of his skin has nothing to do with it?

The same reason you root against him, is the same reason I root for him. The same way you doubt him, is the way I believe in him. The same way you fear him being successful, I think he's successful for having you fear him. Vince has arrived. He has become the face of the Titans. The REAL LIFE STEAMIN' WILLIE BEAMEN.

What if I started rooting for white quarterbacks just because they are white?

Would that be racist King T?

Then you would have a lot of QBs to root for, thus it doesn't make much sense. I don't cheer for LBs just because they're black.

On the other hand, if you cheered for the future success of Toby Gerhart in the NFL because of the fact that there are very few white RBs(basically none actually, not counting FBs) in the league, I wouldn't look at you funny.

I'm not a fan of him myself, but most of the few NASCAR fans that aren't white that I've met cheer for Juan Pablo Montoya, either as their top favorite or just on the side.

So, yeah I'll admit it. I do cheer for the success of most black QBs because they're black. If it comes to the point that there are good amount playing and doing well, like third of the league, then I won't feel the need to hope for their success particularly. Don't get me wrong, if he's an known thug or douche off the field, then in all likelihood, I won't like him all that much.

It's a minority thing.

This thread is pretty funny, I enjoyed it very much. Takes me back to the Barroid threads.

1) McNabb plays in Philly, one of the worst places to be a athlete. I think the crap he gets there is mostly because of location.

2) Saying the Panthers skip over black QB's is stupid, we skip over ALL QB's, black or white.

3) Most people were down on Vince cause of his meltdown and all of that and seemingly lack of desire to play. I don't think Vince changed a "culture" of a city when they had one of the best black QB's playing for them for many years.

Vince Youngs impact on the NFL is so HUGE now, 1 thread wasnt enough. He couldnt have done it without the non-believers and those who couldnt wait to kick him while he's down. All those folks who were hollaring "low wonderlic" and "he just relies on his athleticism, he sucks" are now hollaring "I knew he could do it" and "he was suicidal, I was worried about him". PRIDE. Its such a powerful thing. The non-believers cant just put their pride down for once and admit they were dead wrong. They cant just put their pride down for once and admit that had Vince gone 0-5 they'd be in here telling us how "run first QBs are lousy passers" and the Titans need a true pocket passer like Delhomme. They can't just put their pride down and admit, that even at 0-6, they still viewed Kerry "I quit on the Panthers and their fans still like me" Collins and his 62 QB rating as the best option for the Tennessee Titans. These guys football knowledge is based on what happened in the 1970s and 1980s, not whats happening in 2009,2010,2011. They can tolerate going 7-9, 6-10 every other year, they just cant tolerate somone praising and believing in a black QB as strongly as they believe in a Peyton Manning or a Kurt Warner.

I think you've lost it KT.

Sure some people may care whether a player is black, white, purple, or fuchsia. And those that care probably cry out loudly. I don't think most do. In fact the only person I see making any kind of issue over race is you.

If he is smart and can make plays I don't care if he is homosexual black Jewish dwarf with a cleft palette and hunchback.

And if you had asked me last year if I would want Collins or Young leading my team. I would've said Young without thinking twice. Even assuming (and I don't make this assumption based on race only on the comments of low wonderlic scores and his whole going bonkers thing) he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, with good coaching, his athleticism and his ability to make plays he could be a superstar. Young just needs to get over any nonfootball issues he has and develop his ability to read and react to defenses and control the game and he will be a superstar.

Collins on the other hand can't throw a deep ball, quit on his team in the past, and has no potential to become a dominant force that could change the way the game is played in the future or really to improve at all.

It's not about race it's about the individual.

To the individuals who run the Panthers when it comes to the QB position and the face of their franchise, its all about race. Thats why they only bring in one monolithic group of QBs. No talent required. If you imply that maybe we could use some diversity or look for QBs with a different skillset you're called a "racist". If you say having a black QB on our roster would help us and we should consider it, you're told "race shouldnt matter" and people get defensive and take it as an "attack on white QBs". I've been a fan of this team from day 1 and I know the atmosphere we have here is not one that looks for a Vince Young or a David Garrard. Its an atmosphere that says "hey Im not against it, just not in my backyard". Thats why it hasnt happened and wont happen. Kerry Collins has a better chance of playing here again.

You guys keep dodging that fuschia elephant you see. We aint talking about the white QBs that suck. We're talking about the ones who get blown. Peyton, Drew, Carson, Tom, Phillip, Ben. The ones who are seen as gods. The ones that we want to act like there's no way a Donovan McNabb or David Garrard or Michael Vick or a Vince Young could even be as good. I dont defend black QBs that suck. You dont see me in hear barking about JaMarcus Russell or Jason Campbell or Quincy Carter. I stand up for the ones who are good and make plays yet still get pooted on cuz people want to keep white QBs on this bullpoo ass imaginary pedestal.

McNabb is the only one in your list that is considered among the elites. If you think Garrard or Vick (lmfaoooo) or Young deserve to be in that class, you know nothing of football. There were legit reasons Young was doubted. Not only did he suck, but he could'nt even beat out Kerry Collins last year. Has nothing to do with race, but bigots like you will only see it as a color issue.
