Vince Young will be in the Hall of Fame

Number two.

Mr.Scot works closely with the Panthers and has relationships with some of their people, expecting him to be non-biased or partial is a JOKE.

I do? :sosp:

The managers at my office will be pretty surprised to hear that.

(almost as surprised as I am)

I've been asked if I worked for the Panthers before. Also been asked if I was Darin Gantt (I agree with him a lot) Scott Fowler (that was a popular one, based on the screen name) a co-worker of Pete Prisco (never got that one) or a scout for the Eagles (I was wearing a Panthers jersey at the time).

I don't work for - or with - the Panthers. It'd be nice, mind you, but I don't. I know one guy who used to, the same guy a lot of other people on here know as well. And even him I haven't actually met in person.

When it comes to towing the Panthers company line or irrelevant name dropping of Panther employees Mr.Scot is your man. When it comes to assessing QB play? Not so much. Remember gang Mr.Scot is one of the biggest Jake Delhomme apologists on this board. The self proclaimed "Voice of Reason" snapped at anyone last offseason who questioned us giving Jake 20 mill and his extension. Even though it didnt take a rocket scientist to know that deal is gonna set us back 3-4 years.

Wrong again. I said I understood the extension, but was shocked at the length and the numbers. It was clear that the Panthers believed in him rather than it just being a cap move. Me? I had questions.

Just a few weeks before it happened, I wrote a post called "The Forgotten Man" in which I said this:

Again though, I do certainly allow for at least the possibility that the Panthers might not have restructured Delhomme because they plan to release him after June 1st. I'd be highly surprised if that happened, mind you, but I don't completely discount it.

It's in that scenario that I can see Josh McCown being named the starter. And I'll grant that open competition is an option in such a case as this, but given the way the team prefers to operate and how they like their QBs, elevating McCown seems more likely.

We all remember how reluctant the team was to hand the keys to Moore in 2007, signing Vinny Testaverde of all people instead.

More recently, I wrote this: The Time Has Come

My preference at this point would be to go with Josh McCown, but McCown was injured in yesterday's game and at this point his readiness is a question mark. People will point to Matt Moore's performance yesterday and say that he should start, but it's worth noting that the Eagles sat some starters when Moore came in and had, to a certain extent, called off the dogs. Yes, he looked the best of all the QBs yesterday, but put it in proper context.

Still, I've written many times that smart coaches should never re-start benched QBs. If you're going to sit them, sit them permanently, otherwise don't pull them. My opinion on that is unchanged. And truthfully, even if it's a guy who his teammates still trust, there comes a time when a coach needs to say "enough".

Thus, with Delhomme performing badly and McCown questionable, I have to throw my vote behind Matt Moore. Yes, he'll struggle, but I've never stopped believing Moore could be the QB of the future in Carolina. In this case, the future will just need to be accelerated.

Bottom Line: Much as I'm a fan of Delhomme, as good as he was for the most part last season leading the team to a 12-4 record, and as much praise and gratitude as he deserves for everything he's done for this team (that's a lot), and as much as I hate to say it...

...the time has come.

Do I believe it will be done? No.

Do I believe it should be?

Yes.

That's actually one of several posts made this season where I've suggested it was time to bench Delhomme. Kind of an odd thing coming from one of his "biggest apologists" :nonod:

LMAO. This is a guy who just compared...

Eric Crouch

0 starts, 0 wins, 0 TDs, 0 QB rating

Mike Vick

67 starts (38-28 record) 71 TDs, 52 INTs, 75.5 QB rating, 3,924 rushing yards, 3 pro bowls, 1 NFCG appearance

Scot is a conservative. They are masters of deflection, playing dumb when need be, and hidden agendas. So when Scot compares Eric Crouch, a white guy who never played QB in this league, to the former face of the Atlanta Falcons what is he telling us? When he equates a player who has long been forgotten to a player who even as a low profile 3rd stringer garners national attention what is he doing? What is Scot really trying to say? Well what Scot is saying is, despite all Vick has accomplished, he is on par to a white QB who NEVER played in the league. He's telling the young black kids who are reading this thread right now and want to be NFL QBs one day, you're gonna have to do twice as much or three times as much as a white QB before I'll give you the same credit or forget that you are black. He's telling them, even though you are blessed with God given athletic ability, DONT USE IT, because if you do it will give you an unfair advantage over the more marginal QBs Id like to "feel good about".

One post prior, you said bringing up Vick was irrelevant and that I was bringing him up to cast aspersions on you. One post later, you make a big deal about Vick.

Did you actually set out to undermine your credibility, or did it just happen? :skep:

Crouch equates as a guy who was a run-first QB. He didn't succeed in the league because he refused to do a position switch. Style-wise though, he's the same type of QB as Vick. Also the same type that Young used to be, but his passing has improved and the Titans are using him smartly.

There's also the ridiculous statements about what I'd say to black kids, but I'll address that garbage in the next one.

And the first shall be last...

How do you know this? You're speaking for them now? You're the official voice of Panther nation? LOL. Correction Scot, you would be more than happy with a black QB like Garrard. With his contract and being the starter for another team you know its highly unrealistic he comes here anytime soon. Its the equivalent of saying "if Colin Powell ran for President I would vote for a black person OMGZ LRMO!!!"

Actually, I wouldn't vote for Colin Powell. J C Watts though? Absolutely. Could go for Alan Keyes too.

And Garrard is a possibility, albeit a long shot. More realistic possibilities would be Jason Campbell (not in favor) and Josh Johnson (would be in favor).

I've also been arguing heavily against going after Matt Leinart. It's probably because I hate white QBs

Speaking for people again Scotty? What Scot doesnt want is a young athletic black guy being the leader of his team. What Scot doesnt want is to have to give a young black man the same love and affection he bestowed on a mediocre "fiery" guy like Delhomme. Scotty Im still waiting for you tell me some young black QBs in the college ranks who could help our team. You were even supposed to shoot the questions to the Panthers. Scotty, you're dodging me baby. Let me guess, there are no young black QBs out there who can help us.

See, here's how you keep losing these arguments (twice in one thread this time).

It's been clearly shown by my own words that I'd happily take a black QB if he were an effective passer. I won't take a black, white or any other color QB who's not an effective passer first (regardless of whether they can run or not). Of course, since you know you can't keep up on facts, you choose instead to throw accusations like this out. Unfortunately for you, you have nothing with which to back them up.

See, you can't just project on me what you want people to believe I think. I have my own words to show how wrong you are, both in the past and in the present. As I said above, this is why you look stupid when you post this kind of stuff.

And it's why you lose...again :nonod:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tennessee quarterback Vince Young strained his right hamstring Sunday during the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams and headed to the locker room.

His return was questionable after he pulled up at the end of a 44-yard run, grabbing at the back of his right leg. Young lay on his back on the sideline, holding the back of his leg for a couple minutes. Then he headed into the locker room and was replaced by Kerry Collins.

Young was hurt at the end of the longest run of his four-year career, and he pulled up at the end of his run down the left sideline. He put the Titans at the Rams 30 midway through the second quarter.

The quarterback had been questionable for this game with an achy right knee. But he had played very well, completing 6 of 8 for 132 yards with one touchdown for a 14-0 Tennessee lead.

Vince's win today against Meat's favorite football team has him at 6-1 as a starter in 09. Titans slim playoff hopes are still alive.

"Thanks for saving my job buddy. I believed in you all along. I-I-I really did!"

VINCE JUST KEEPS WINNING!!!

Vince Young, what can you say man? The kid led Tennessee to another victory today. Vince finished the day 14-27, 236 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. He is now 7-1 as a starter in 2009. Let me repeat that again. Vince Young the "running back who passes" who's "just an athlete" that had an "overrated" rookie season has more wins in 8 games than the Carolina Panthers have in 13. You gotta tip your hat to an owner like Bud Adams who wasnt afraid to draft a talent like Vince EARLY and stand behind him so firmly earlier this season when no one else did. Its that faith in Vince that has helped Tennessee salvage their season that seemed so hopeless just a month and a half ago. Its incredible how great a leader Vince really is.
