FYI folks Scot will keep mentioning Vick to shift attention away from him not believing in or wanting the most successful QB in his college's history, Pat White. All that Pat did for West Virginia football, Scot didnt want us to use one of our sacred QB roster spots on him. Seeing his favorite football team lose to Michael Vick so many times has brought about a weird obsession for him. So if you see Scot pull Vick's name out of thin air, thats why.

When it comes to towing the Panthers company line or irrelevant name dropping of Panther employees Mr.Scot is your man. When it comes to assessing QB play? Not so much. Remember gang Mr.Scot is one of the biggest Jake Delhomme apologists on this board. The self proclaimed "Voice of Reason" snapped at anyone last offseason who questioned us giving Jake 20 mill and his extension. Even though it didnt take a rocket scientist to know that deal is gonna set us back 3-4 years. Mr.Scot works closely with the Panthers and has relationships with some of their people, expecting him to be non-biased or partial is a JOKE. LMAO. This is a guy who just compared...

Eric Crouch

0 starts, 0 wins, 0 TDs, 0 QB rating

Mike Vick

67 starts (38-28 record) 71 TDs, 52 INTs, 75.5 QB rating, 3,924 rushing yards, 3 pro bowls, 1 NFCG appearance

Scot is a conservative. They are masters of deflection, playing dumb when need be, and hidden agendas. So when Scot compares Eric Crouch, a white guy who never played QB in this league, to the former face of the Atlanta Falcons what is he telling us? When he equates a player who has long been forgotten to a player who even as a low profile 3rd stringer garners national attention what is he doing? What is Scot really trying to say? Well what Scot is saying is, despite all Vick has accomplished, he is on par to a white QB who NEVER played in the league. He's telling the young black kids who are reading this thread right now and want to be NFL QBs one day, you're gonna have to do twice as much or three times as much as a white QB before I'll give you the same credit or forget that you are black. He's telling them, even though you are blessed with God given athletic ability, DONT USE IT, because if you do it will give you an unfair advantage over the more marginal QBs Id like to "feel good about".

Jumping on the ass end of this mess....

Young in the HOF? I hope so. He's a hometown kid and the Texans are fuging retards for not drafting him (I'm from Houston). I like him alot, wwould love to trade straight up, Pep for Young.

The Panthers do not need Couch or Vick. Comparing them seems reasonable. They both suck. Vick use to be hell on wheels and could sling a ball. He;s not any more and he never was that accurate.

If it has to come down to race, the best "black" qb of all time is Warren Moon. He had to go through some poo in Houston with being black. The Oilers nor the fans knew how lucky they were to have him.

CatofWar do you remember the year the Oilers won 11 straight behind Moon, NC State alum Haywood Jeffries, Givens, and Gary Brown? That was the best Oilers team to me. That was when they were "Buddy" ball.

Love Ya Blue!!! Yup, thought we were going to win the whole damn thing. Can't believe you remember Gary Brown. He ran for over a 1000 yards in eight games. That group was my favorite Oiler team. Hell, Kevin Donnalley was on that team. Chris Dishman, Ray Childress, Lamar Lathon, Bubba McDowell.... they were BAD!

That was a damned entertaining team to watch.

But two monumental second half playoff collpases spelled their doom.

That Houston Oilers/Titans franchise has Moon, McNair, and Vince in their QB history. A HOFer, an MVP, and a young rising star. I think thats something that franchise can be very proud of. The Oilers & the Eagles are like the Dodgers and Indians of the NFL to me (baseball fans will understand what Im getting at). I have tremendous respect for those franchises as well as the Steelers. Who are also trailblazers when it comes to black QBs, coaches, etc. Those franchises and their fans have alot to be proud of even if they dont realize it.

Oh yeah, even though they are a rival, cant forget Tampa Bay too. They were down with Doug Williams in the late 70s, and they gave Dungy his first chance.

Good point, never thought of it that way.

And as a Dodger fan I am certainly proud of their history and tradition.

Don't remind me.

The Oilers only had Air McNair for a couple of years, but I rocked a Columbia blue McNair jersey. I miss the old run and shoot offense. Bud Adams can suck a dick.

Wow. Three whole posts. Hit a nerve, did I?

So let's start with this one.

Here are posts I made about Pat White in a discussion around draft time.

...I think being another Seneca Wallace would be Pat White's best shot at playing for the Panthers. If he were drafted elsewhere it might be a different story.

Bottom line though: A college kid looking for a shot with a pro team should be extremely careful about refusing to run drills that scouts want him to run. When there are millions of dollars on the line, it's best not to piss off somebody who's willing to consider writing you that huge paycheck.

Have you read a word I've written about Pat White?

I've repeatedly said my concerns about him are his height and his durability. I think his one year under Bill Stewart has shown that he can be trained to be a passer first, but I don't believe he'll be a guy that has an immediate impact.

Link

He progressed nicely as a passer in one year under Bill Stewart. Given some pro coaching, he might develop into a good pro QB in a year or two.

I have his postseason performances, especially the Senior Bowl, more in mind when I say this.

I actually favored drafting Pat White. I just didn't believe it would happen unless they planned to use him like the Seahawks have Seneca Wallace or the Steelers used Kordell Stewart, meaning an eventual transition to full time QB. I also figured the higher picks would go to defense (which they did) meaning we'd have no shot, and in the end we didn't. C'est La Vie.

White's biggest misfortune is spending three years under Rich Rodriguez. Did he win games under Rodriguez? Absolutely. Unfortunately, Rodriguez used him primarily as a running Qb and didn't put in the time to develop his passing skills. Luckily for White, Rodriguez left for Michigan, giving White the chance to work under Bill Stewart. Stewart actually worked to develop White as a passer, and in one year White made remarkable progress.

Who knows? Had White spent more time under Stewart, maybe he'd have been picked even higher. On the flipside, if he'd still been used as Rodriguez did his senior year, he might have dropped or faced the forced position switch. My hope for him now is that he succeeds as a pro QB. Not sure it'll be at Miami though if Henne keeps playing like he has.

There, in my own words, is my take on White, and it bears no resemblance to your accusations.

Guess you must really enjoy getting caught in lies :sosp:

Amusing from that same thread: You stated (incorrectly) that the Panthers had never drafted a black quarterback and seemed to not even know that a black quarterback (Doug Williams) had won the Super Bowl.
