A read on our captains for this coming year

Jason Avant is a wonder person, he's a wonderful man. I know he is new to the team but don't be surprised if he gets a C on his Jersey.

I think Olsen might be a little too bristly to be a Captain. Instead I could see Deangelo pick up Gross's spot. He seems to always be positive and has the ability to shift the momentum of a game when the passing game isn't clicking.

Good point Gallagher.  I could see that as well, though I don't know how the team views his tweets about being disgruntled over the spring.  I really hope Olsen gets the nod.... he is truly one of the leaders on offense now with Smitty and Gross gone.

Don't be surprised if godfrey is a captain he may not start but he has a vocal president in the lockeroon and has shown to be team first.

IMO, I don't think all of the captains have to be thee best players on the field. I think most of them do, but 1 or 2 players can be average, but true leaders by their attitude and approach. Someone like Colin Jones or even Chase Blackburn maybe could be eligible. At the end of the day, an average NFL player is still one of the best football players around.

Since the players have the majority of the input on who their captains will be, it wouldn't surprise me if D'Angelo WIlliams gets a nod this year.  With all that went on with his family the past few weeks, his positive attitude, and rapport with the teammates it's not out of the realm of possibilities.  He showed an inner strength and appreciation to the fans after the passing of his mom and that speaks highly of the character of the man.  Something we can all support.

First 4 captains seem pretty obvious... Newton, Kalil, Kuechly, Davis. It's that 5 spot that's hard to figure, they usually have one guy who is primarily a special teams player but Senn is gone.
