Mike Mitchell has Panthers helmet hanging in his Steelers locker

Mitchell was fun to watch last year, no question about that.  He still made mistakes but more than made up for it with his nastiness.  I can't be alone when I say he was a product of our system and playing behind our front line.  I know the next man can step up and we'll be fine.

That being said, I will miss the emotion he brought to the team.

mitchell was a little different than just a product of our system or the front line

he was the vocal leader of our secondary and he is one of the fastest safeties in the league and can hit like a mack truck.

he was the bookend to our front 7. that final stamp of "don't fug with us." we don't have that nastiness back there right now.

decoud is a pussy compared to mitchell. we'll see what happens though.

Because much as we all like him, he's not objectively worth a five year, 25 million dollar contract.

According to who? If I recall correctly he was in the running for the pro bowl too. Some of u guys are acting like he sucked, but had a great attitude. Well he didn't suck. He was a great safety

He was a hard hitter, no doubt about that.  He's fun to watch and as fans, you want an emotional guy who likes the team he's playing for.  Maybe he can reach that next level in Pittsburgh, but I wouldn't bet money on it.  I honestly believe the next guy can put up similar numbers, maybe even better.  It'll be less exciting, but hopefully with less penalties.

What's with the penalties thing? He had one in the playoff game that was insanely questionable to the point aikman said it was a bs call.

I can think of only one other and that was preseason. I think he will do well in Pittsburgh with Troy. He has all the ability and football knowledge in the world. I think people don't understand or forget how much he put other secondary players in positions to succeed. He's only 26 and this was his first chance of starting and taking control and he flourished

Well, after looking at the number of penalties, it's way less than it seems.  I should have looked first, guess I'm a little biased because of his past.  He had 5 in 2010 and 3 in 2011.

On another note, the panthers only had 80 (5th best) penalties last year.  To me that goes back to coaching and being disciplined.

Next to the muhammad "shhhh" celebration in the NFC championship game this might be the most symbolic panthers picture ever. This momebt i believe stamped us as an elite team with that "dont fug with us attitude" to go into san fran, who had dominated the NFC for the last two years and beat them up from a physical standpoint was a beauty to see. By the end of that game frank gore looked like he didnt wanna touch the ball one more time and kaepernick looked truly scared to have the ball in his hands. This picture was truly the turning point of the season and if we win a superbowl could end up being the turning point of the Cam/Luke/Rivera era. Thanks for the memories Mike
