Could Joel Embiid Fall to No.9?

He 20 years old and has already broken his back and foot all in the same year. I don't see how he is NBA ready or even shown that he is anything more then a D League player given that he not even finished 1 year in college ball due to injuries. He made the jump trying to get paid before all the issues popped up but was busted before he could sign a contract. The types of injuries he's had has killed the careers of far better and more accomplished players. Someone may take a stab at him but it will be a career risk pick. Don't be surprised if he goes undrafted.

He won't go undrafted. Even for all the fear mongering I just did, there is also a good chance he fully heals.

But still there is a distinct chance this is a recurring issue and he has no real career at all.

Our Drs would need to do their homework on this guy and review his feet closely before investing millions on him.

I still believe he will be off the board by 9 because other teams will review his medical also. If he has a good prognosis he will be gone. If he doesn't we should avoid him also.

Either way I don't see him being a Hornet.

But the thing is, he limited his information to the top 3 teams I believe. This gives others no chance to really get a good picture of where the guy is health wise and he can't travel to teams before the draft to be evaluated by a team doctor. All the information that comes from his camp in the past and in the future is considered questionable at best.

That is why our own team Drs would need to evaluate him. I believe the Cavs discovered the fracture.

If they won't let us the we don't draft him.

He can't travel after the surgery and is limited to what can and can't be done due to the surgery. With the Cavs being the one that found the issue along with the limited physical work that he has been able to do regarding his back I'm more of a shoot first ask questions later bc it seems to be a pandora's box with guy. Of course they are going to say the surgery was successful but there is really no way to followup and be evaluated by independent doctors given the tight timeline leading up to the draft. Not.necessarly disagreeing that he won't be drafted but with all the issues and questions surrounding his health and the way things have unfolded I would have him off my draft board bc of history of how these things have played out. And personally I would feel that his team was trying to screw me.

Most athletes with this injury heal properly, it's players who wait a while to fix it or have high arches that get this injury repeatedly. Embiid got surgery with in a few days of it happening. Everything points to him healing fine and being able to play at a high level.

Most, but the more strenuous the sport like basketball and the bigger the person the more likely to be recurring.

If it was no big deal he would still be #1 pick

As long as he doesn't have high arches, he'll be able to play at a high level for the next 9-10 seasons easily.
