I interpreted your post as meaning that mustangs were native to the Carolinas.

There was a misunderstanding. I was referring to the name panthers. But looking at the post it is a bit confusing on my part. Native or currently resides should have been what was said.

I like how they claim there are no panthers in NC. Yeah, ok. Because a large predator won't have huge amounts of territory it roams. Look at the desert jaguar. They filmed a few thousand hours at night just to get a glimpse of one for a few seconds. Out here our wildlife claims there are no wolves in this part of Colorado until a guy hit one at night.

Some of their names are a little funny (if not stale), like Buffalo Wings. But a few of them make some sense actually (Love the Arizona Scorpions).

At this point it would seem a little odd to change the Panthers name, but you can't deny the historical and geographical meaning behind Mustangs.

1. Carolina Mustangs

On the sandy beaches of the Outer Banks, a coastal region in North Carolina,

wild Spanish mustangs roam free. It’s a sight to behold, as the majestic animals

have survived on this rugged terrain since originally being brought to the area by

European settlers. Naming the local professional football team after them makes

a lot more sense than picking a cat that can’t be found anywhere in Carolinas

simply because it’s sleek and powerful.

Panthers are spotted in my area all of the time.
