true story at carmel country club all the parents give the instructors gift cards to best buy or something like that after the lesson session is over

kasay gave me a bible

i told him, "this is like the fourth bible ive gotten from you."

he was like, "come to my church."

then luckily some kid started drowning so i avoided that awkward conversation

the core is much more than 5..but hard to argue with beaux's top 5...i really think Gamble needs to be in there somewhere

gamble barely speaks english

if anyone asked him for advice he'd hand them a copy of reader rabbit and drool on them slightly

Beason: Defensive leader who leads not only with words but impressive action

Delhomme: Can motivate like no one else and even when almost all hope is lost he doesn't give up

Smith: Routinely one of the most emotional players on the team and very openly expects high standards from his team mates, especially new guys.

Muhammed/Kasay: Either one equally, they are the guys who have been there. They know this team, these fans, like no others. Can't deny that kind of experience.

Jerry Richardson: Hey, he's a player dammit. And without him, there is no "core" to this team.

core player and leader aren't the same to me. Peppers is a guy we built a D around, so I'd say he's core. Smith is what makes our O run - he's core. Leadership is an obvious plus. Those two aren't it, but they're still core, to me.

Beason, he's both. Which is pretty awesome. Delhomme, not just because he's the QB but because he generally fits what we want. I can think of plenty of leaders, but no other core guys - Kasay and Muhammad are the elder statesmen. Harris is our passion. Williams is fantastic, but right or wrong I could see Stewart doing just as well.

my 5 core players

1) Smith - outspoken leader, playmaker on offense...makes things happen that's not supposed to happen

2) Beason - defensive leader, plays with intense fire, gels together defense

3) Gross - rock on the o-line

4) Kasay - been here since the beginning, model of consistency

5) out of the box: Hoover....quiet, does his job, opens up holes, finishes cleanly, facilitates our rushing attack and gets the one yard we need occasionally...not a superstar, but he does his job well

D. Williams-elite tailback... phenomenal talent

Gross- Pro Bowl LT

Beason- stud MLB , natural leader

Peppers- Premier DE, 4 time pro bowler

Smith- no explanation needed

hard to name just 5.. the Panthers are STACKED

When Fox and Hurney started putting this team together the idea was to keep Core players. Going into Fox's 8th Season I think they have done well keeping those core players. Witherspoon being the exception.

If I had to choose 5 it would be these 5 for the same reasons. Jake is a core player but if I could only keep 5 Jake would not be one of them.

Go Panthers

Jerry Richardson

John Beason

Steve Smith

Thomas Davis

Jordan Gross

Weird, I know.

Then you have the anti-core

Julius Peppers

thinking........

outside of Smitty and Jake.....losing Peppers would be a HUGE blow to our team and there would be no way to make an adjustment to makeup for the loss. Beason probably is sitting at #4. Peppers' paycheck this season is just further proof he definately is CORE.
