Carolina Panthers Give LT Nate Chandler a 4 Year Extension

Correct me if I'm wrong but, Bell was/is a RFA, those tags are for one year correct? Bell also was the last one to sign his tender, could have been him and his agent trying to get a long term deal (pure speculation I have no idea). The deal with Nate is even though its almost the same amont on avg a year, he is now on the team 3-4 years if he plays well. Bell could be gone after this year.

Bell is on a 1 year contract worth 2.1 million.  Chandler signed a 3 year extension worth roughly 8 million with 1.87 million in guarantees.  Chandler isn't guaranteed being here either.  He is likely to be here because if he starts or even plays quite a bit he is cheap.  But only the 1.87 million is guaranteed meaning he could be cut in the future with little consequence if we wanted to.

I like it and congratulations to Chandler -  an UDFA,  looking at hitting the street a year ago when we were full up of defensive lineman - he worked his ass off  moving to our area of need and made enough of an impact that he earned a decent contract.   I hope he does well and continues to improve.

I like it a lot.  I don't hate Byron, but he's not the long term answer starting anywhere on ours or anyones roster, and Nate has a higher upside.  I think we end up with Nate on the left being groomed long term for us, Williams on the right, and BB backing up both.  It's not an O-line that will intimidate anyone, but it's not the worst thing in the world either.

All three where big part of STs and undrafted. Smart moves for each side. But id hold off on calling it bargin for chandler til the real games happen. Does add a wrench towards a new deal for bell, but most here want him cut. I still want to see a hardy deal done, timing is good for the panthers. Dave is doing a good job of signing current panther deals and drafting, which is all I care about the first three years.
