Bucs sign David Gettis

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Tried out last week but signed just now

Correct.

Here's the link to their source story (Tampa Bay Times)

I had forgotten that Gettis was teammates with RG3 and Josh Gordon, which consequently means I had forgotten that RG3 and Gordon were teammates

Had also forgotten that Gettis joins another former (temporary) Panther on the Tampa receiving corps, specifically Louis Murphy.

We may find out something about our organization, good or bad with this one.

Naw, he might be ok but he's not gonna blast off or anything man. The dude doesnt have great coordination, thats the bottom line. Great athlete, great guy it seems, but serviceable in the 1 or 2 he will never be.

That's not what I meant really.  I just meant if he does well, we still need to work on our evaluation techniques but if he flounders we can feel more confident in the front office.

Either way, I wish him luck.

Per the story, the top three receiver spots on their roster are likely set (Vincent Jackson, Mike Evans, Robert Herron) and there are already nine other guys competing for the remaining two or three jobs.  Obviously, some of those guys were on the Bucs roster last season, but even those who weren't have a head start on Gettis because he's signing relatively late in the process.

Honestly, I wouldn't bet on him even making the team.

I dont get what you mean about evaluation then. He had a shot, did ok as a 3 and then got injured. Then he got another shot and we were on board but he got injured again. He was going to make the team last year. I dont think evaluation was a problem.
