Do parents not teach kids how to dress?

Why do you have a problem with parents dressing their kids nicely or like "models"? Why should they be wearing what you deem comfortable clothes?

Also wearing midriffs and short shorts doesn't mean you're going to be a stripper. That's just ridiculous.

You're misreading my point here. All I'm saying is pushing kids, from an age where they are not dressing themselves, to be part of the "in crowd" and look like a fuging Hollywood child is not necessarily healthy. Nor necessarily bad, either, but it's something that I find appalling. I'm not trying to force my poo on anybody else, I'm just stating my position. I'm saying that pushing kids from an early age to try to be part of the "in crowd" and do what everybody else is doing and wear whatever is trending, regardless of how practical and appropriate it is (depending on the setting, obviously. If there is a dress code, for instance) CAN lead to some bad poo happening and lead them to going with the crowd in things beyond just how they dress in order to gain the friendship and approval of peers. If you don't see that, it's because you choose not to see it. Like I said, showing a little skin isn't the end of the fuging world. I don't get the OP's big deal with seeing a child's midriff (the hell bro?). That wasn't what my post was about. My dad STILL routinely tells my 20 year old sister to "cover herself" when she's wearing a tight tank top. I find that ridiculous.

TL;DR, I was commenting less on the issue the OP has and more on the "twitter/instagram/facebook popularity contest" that I quoted.

EDIT: I see now the whole mentioning of the OP in my original comment can be confusing. So let me clear that up. I'm an idiot. Editing that part out now because I think at the time I had a clear idea of what I was trying to convey about why it's more dangerous for little girls, but I can't think of it now and it just comes off as me being a douche.

I think both sides of the arguement in this thread are going to extremes.

Most young girls dress fine...some a little more scantily than others, but nothing outrageous.  However, I have seen some 12-13 yo girls at the mall, etc that ARE dressed like damn hookers.  I think these are the ones that Panda was referring to.

You are always going to have some kids (those with idiot parents) who push things way past boundaries.....but most young teens and pre-teens are just expressing themselves in an OK manner.

This is either a feminist issue about men oppressing poor teenage girls with puritanical dress codes, or about one girl trying to make everyone accommodate her because she feels entitled. It's obvious which narrative you've bought into. I disagree.

All these narratives.. Are you alluding to Nazi Germany again?

But Hannah Montana dresses like that too

Is there a way in this thread that we can create a 2 piece boundary?

Some girls are right there on the edge, yeah you're just barely getting away with it, ok

Then there are the girls where you can't even see the bottom of her bikini because the fat of her fupa/belly engulfs it.

Why did you think that would be okay to wear? Who told you that looked attractive, or even acceptable? What's wrong with a tankini?!

Now now.  If we are going to let the hot chick wear itty bitty clothing, have to let the non-attractive by today's models standard beauty queen wear them too.
