Do parents not teach kids how to dress?

Lots of companies have a dress code. Would anyone be surprised of a female employee showed up to work in a business casual office wearing a bare midriff top and got reprimanded? Or is it her right to flout the culture, and it's her male coworkers' fault as sexual deviants for staring at her and turning her into a sex object.

I get where you all are coming from, there are much bigger issues in the world than a dress code violation. And no, this isn't leading to teen pregnancy and drug use, so BFD. Girl power. But part of being a citizen, or part of society is adhering to certain rules, no matter how frivolous they may seem. So you can either act like a friggin adult, and behave with modesty, morality and self-restraint (before you jump on my case, this comment is not just about shorts, but our behavior as a whole). Or you can take every single rule as a personal affront and launch a goddamned campaign that stirs people up, labels your male classmates as pervert-rapists, and calls into question the educational priorities of your entire school district, just so you can wear shorts that are an inch shorter than you are presently allowed to.

What a trooper she is.

So, you admit you have no idea what I'm talking about but you want to point out my hypocrisy? I posted a relative link of school officials overreacting and added in my experience over the weekend. If you really can't figure out this is about self-respect you will not be teaching anyone lessons on hypocrisy anytime soon.

Yea you segued into some vague rant about minors with exposed genitals in public. Whenever I go out in public I never notice this. Please let us know which region you reside so we can observe this phenomena in action since it's clear you're not exaggerating lol

i'm not shocked that its full of a bunch of dudes telling women how to dress their bodies

This is either a feminist issue about men oppressing poor teenage girls with puritanical dress codes, or about one girl trying to make everyone accommodate her because she feels entitled. It's obvious which narrative you've bought into. I disagree.

This is where you're mistaken. I'm talking about girls who aren't even old enough to have a drivers license. Someone older can make those decisions for themselves. And the argument, 'its hot' doesn't fly with me. I wear fire retardant clothes at work and sometimes I have to get into a full hazmat suit with contained air in a 110° area. That just doesn't fly with me.

Maybe I'm confused. i thought this thread was about a guy who saw girls in short shorts, midriff shirts and make up at an amusement park which made him so uncomfortable and outraged that he made this thread.

I bet you bitch about girls in two pieces at the beach too.

There is no right or wrong here just opinion. To each their own, I don't understand why it bothers you so much maybe you have some kind of sex issue but that's your problem. And if those girls "end up on the pole" which I highly doubt then that's their problem.

Well then I might suggest for you not to take a trip to a water park, for you might notice all those rebellious minors wearing two piece bikinis, and then we'll never hear the end of it

No, the beach or a water park is an appropriate place. And if my opinion is neither right nor wrong why are you trying so hard to convince me otherwise?

See above. Then again I'm trying to reason with someone with who has Patrick Bateman as his avatar. I'm sure you're quite well adjusted. I would also be willing to bet you would quickly denounce an atheist for not believing in Jebus.

Should society really be letting girls at 12 show midriff and wearing way too much makeup?

This is a strange question in many ways. Society is not a decision making entity and frankly 12 year old girls are a pretty big definers of society.

This is like asking if society should let me play Titanfall and drink vodka on a Monday afternoon.

I am society bitch
