5-0 to start the season, realistic or not?

we aren't really a team with a history of coming out of the gate running.  we always get a late start and for some reason seem to need to build up momentum, which you can also see by the way we come out of bye weeks whether regular season or playoffs.

one of the big things that has been a problem, and imo the biggest one, is that the OL just takes too long to gel. this isn't some recent thing, it's going back several years prior to fox leaving here. even in that big double trouble season, we got a slow start with the run game. i think part of the reason for that has been we're still dicking around with the lineup in training camp, but even when we have had the depth chart set in TC, we still take several weeks to get our poo together.

i don't know why it is that momentum plays so much more a big role in our successes than it does in other teams, but we've got to figure out a way to make ourselves not so dependant on it because i think it hurts us. time off just seems to be a killer for us. maybe it's got to do with the laid baco nature of this team, i don't know, but whatever it is, they need to stop it and stop making excuses for it or minimalizing it when it happens. just saying, "ehhh....there's a whole lot of football left to go, we'll get better" or "this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon" don't help. they've got to find a way to get up to top speed quicker because that will only help them come playoff time.

hopefully this year they get it figured out.

Given we haven't had too many winning season you could say we aren't exactly quick out of the gate and many years didn't pick up the pace.  Obviously coming on strong may be related to the pressure players and coaches feel to win or get fired like Rivera in 2012 or 2013.  Rivera has been a slow starter but under Fox we were better early in the years we had winning seasons.

In 2008 we started 4-1. In 2005 we went 4-2 and in 2003, we started out 5-0.  Obviously when you have a losing season you are not winning consistently so your record reflects that.

I think you have to get through most of the preseason before you can break it down team by team.  Having said that, I really believe that this team can compete with anyone in the league and it is well within reason for them to come out of the gate hot and win the first 5 games.  Not the "any given Sunday" cliché.  I think this is a solid team with great odds at the playoffs.

Yeah.

I just don't see this team being the type to be complacent. They are working too damm hard to not play their azzes off. Now that we have learned how to win, I see that trend continuing.

The future is in full effect. This team knows it's good. They know they can win. And they know what it takes to stay there.

We started 1-3 last season and finished 12-4. An 11-1 stretch.

I'd love to start off hot but even if we don't..

I don't want to have to count on another one of those stretches again. So, as long as we stay above 500 over the first half of the season. We should be in good shape down the stretch.

Just win baby.
