5-0 to start the season, realistic or not?

we aren't really a team with a history of coming out of the gate running.  we always get a late start and for some reason seem to need to build up momentum, which you can also see by the way we come out of bye weeks whether regular season or playoffs.

one of the big things that has been a problem, and imo the biggest one, is that the OL just takes too long to gel. this isn't some recent thing, it's going back several years prior to fox leaving here. even in that big double trouble season, we got a slow start with the run game. i think part of the reason for that has been we're still dicking around with the lineup in training camp, but even when we have had the depth chart set in TC, we still take several weeks to get our poo together.

i don't know why it is that momentum plays so much more a big role in our successes than it does in other teams, but we've got to figure out a way to make ourselves not so dependant on it because i think it hurts us. time off just seems to be a killer for us. maybe it's got to do with the laid baco nature of this team, i don't know, but whatever it is, they need to stop it and stop making excuses for it or minimalizing it when it happens. just saying, "ehhh....there's a whole lot of football left to go, we'll get better" or "this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon" don't help. they've got to find a way to get up to top speed quicker because that will only help them come playoff time.

hopefully this year they get it figured out.

5-0 would be nice but we've seen teams start hot and fade before. It would be exciting but 5 wins only guarantees us 5-11

this is true. teams that start out that fast tend to burn out quickly.

i don't think we need to start out 5-0, but being able to start out the first 5 games with a winning record would be great. i want us to stay away from a losing record all season and have that start out from the beginning.

That's true. It seems as if there is always one team that gets off to a sizzling start then fades. KC last year was a perfect example.

Fast starts + championship is rare: 2009 Saints were the only team in a long time to do it.
