I never really understood why a grown man would want another grown man's autograph.

 

Me either.  It's the psychosis that infects a lot of NFL fans.  I'm not sure they even realize they are sick in the head.  OP would probably let J Stew bang his wife/girlfriend and then brag to his friends about how he can't touch the sides anymore.  It's pathetic.

 

NFL athletes are performers.  Elite athletes that get paid to wreck face.  Not role models or anything more.  They are human.  With all the flaws that classifier entails.  So yeah he was probably kinda pissed that some grown ass drooling man mobbed him as soon as he opened the door to get out of his ride.

I tweeted something awhile back at JStew (I think it was in response to some funny video the RBs had done) and he asked if I was ok. My profile pic at the time was from a surgery that I had a year or two earlier. I completely forgot that I still had that as my pic. Exchanged a couple of tweets and laughs. He didn't have to do that.

I like JStew even more now.

I get the photos I take signed from time to time. I like having a player sig on a photo I am proud of, not sure why. 

 

That said, I am probably on JStew's side. If he stops and signs yours right away then as he is signing 10 other people gather around and he is trapped there not being where he needs to be for a good thirty minutes. They have designated autograph areas for a reason.

 

That said, he could have been more cordial. "Hey man I have to be over there but I will be sure to sign it later" kind of thing. But, eh, he is a football player. I kind of like them rough around the edges.

Since when is everyone so against autographs?  Autographs are fine to get, no matter what age you are.  What matters is the manner in which you do it.  I wouldn't childishly run up to Kuechly at a restaurant asking for one, but I would if possible in the right fashion I would get one. They are just tokens of remembrance.

Didn't get an autograph, but I slapped hands with Luke Kuechly and Mike Tolbert on their way back to the bus.

There is an attitude that celebrities/sportsmen owe you something. There is also the belief that famous people like it when you approach them in public.

He was on a bus from Charlotte to Greensboro. Cut the guy some slack they might have asked players to wait until a certain point before signing anything.
