Just Some Melo / Barnes Rumors

I might be suicidal if I had to cheer for Barnes.

Guarantee you the Hornets are looking into this: http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2014/06/warriors-shopping-harrison.html

#24 for Harrison Barnes?

They can forget about #9.

I hate that free agency isn't until after the draft. It will be interesting to see if Kyrie Irving signs his extension when Cleveland offers it. They will have to move him if he doesn't. And he wouldn't be safe in Cleveland.

Trade #9 for Harrison Barnes

PG: Kemba Walker / Scottie Wilbekin

SG: Harrison Barnes / Gerald Henderson / P.J. Hairston

SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist / Jeff Taylor

PF: Pau Gasol / Cody Zeller

C: Al Jefferson / Bismack Biyombo

#24 + Jeff Taylor should get it done.

#9 has to be part of a package for a bigger name.

The love for Barnes is comical. Not only did he admit how fragile his mind set is when they brought in Iggy and he completely fell apart. He also only avg. 1.6 more points a game over his career then MKG (who can't shoot). Add in the fact he is horrible defensive player (the reason they brought in Iggy). I don't understand the love affair.

Then putting him at SG is even more of a joke.

Corrected.

At least you're honest. Since I'm not going to repeat myself...

Barnes is not a "horrible defensive player." He has been good enough on that end of the court. "Horrible" is hyperbole. They brought in Iguodala because they didn't know what they were doing. Barnes had just outplayed Iguodala in the Denver/Golden State series. They brought him in based on history, and they considered him a star already. It was a dumb move, and the season showed it, as he also underperformed.

No they brought in Iggy because between Curry, Thompson and Barnes you had one of the worst peremeriter defending teams in league. None of them can stop dribble penetration to save their lives or 1on 1 defense. So they brought in Iggy to help with that. Plus Iggy can run a offense. Which let GS run their offense thru him giving Curry and Thompson a chance to run thru screen and set up for quick 3's on fast breaks.

Barnes has never been known as a good ball handler or facilitator. Bringing IGgy was a good idea. It just didn't work in the execution. It should work out better this year.

Barnes was still getting good minutes and shouldn't have fell on his face.

Harrison Barnes is not worth the #9 pick. The guy played well in last years playoffs, well who cares. He was not very good in the regular season last, not very good in the regular season this year, nor was he good in this year's playoffs. There is a much bigger sample size of him being a bench player talent. There is a lot of dislike for Henderson around here, including myself, but he is a better overall player than Barnes. Look at numbers from this past season, Henderson shot the ball as well as Barnes including the 3 ball. Barnes had one good stretch in last years playoffs, check Henderson has good stretches too. Barnes would never start over Henderson or MAG because if he did, then it weakens the team.

This board would explode with negativity if the Hornets were to draft Rodney Hood with the 9th pick, yet some of those same people would trade the pick for Barnes? Hood will be a much better player than Barnes, because EVERY part of his is better than Barnes.

I want to add, I would not pick Hood

I agree with everything you said except for Thompson being a bad defender. He is pretty good, he kept Chris Paul pretty handled in the Clippers series.

I wouldn't mind Hood at all at 9. MJ may just pull another Duke player.

But, Barnes >>>> Hood

I will agree to disagree then, because I think Hood is the better shooter with a better offensive game, better defensively, and has the better mentality to play the game and be good. Barnes has been built up at every level because he has potential, but something is missing. I think Hood was the best player on the floor for Duke many times last year, and that includes the possible number 1 pick. And know I am not saying he is better than Parker.
