So will McDerm be able to create his own shot in the NBA or what? I have NEVER seen the dude play. I heard Jay Billas say he is a great athlete and understands the game. On an island will he be able to take somebody off the dribble and score?

I had a chance to catch a few Creighton games this season with Doug McDermott playing. My honest opinion on him is that he was a great college player and played for a team that his father coached. As far as him going to NBA and playing on the wing, I really believe he will definitely struggle. It's not because he is a caucasian American but it's just the way the game is played now. He doesn't have the athletic ability to keep up with the small forwards that he will match up against. He is only 6'8 so he is definitely too small to play the 4. I'm not being bias or anything like that but at best I believe he will be a shooter that comes off the bench. So I pretty much see him being a role player.

He graded out as the 12th most athletic player in the entire draft class. DX did an extended breakdown of players and McDermott ranked #1 in scoring efficiency in every category. Catch & shoot, off the dribble, off screens, etc. He averaged over 27 points per game while shooting 55% and 45% from 3. He was #1 in the country in points per shot.

Notice how everyone is comparing him to Morrison, Redick, Jimmer, etc? Those guys were all inefficient volume shooters who couldn't create their own shot. McDermott is the best scorer I've ever seen in college. People are gonna cry over this, but if he were black everyone here would be drooling over him.

Good enough for me. If he can catch and shoot and create his own shot with those accuracy numbers then why not draft him? Are the only negatives his college competition and skin color? We need a scorer. He's a coaches son so I assume Clifford can coach up his D. What is the argument against him?

He returned for his Sr year to work on his defense, and he was vastly improved. People don't want him because he's white. They'll list other reasons, but it's because he's white. Just read all the comments where they talk about random white players, who he is absolutely nothing like.

IMO, his bottom floor is a 6th man role player who can average 12-15 points with minimal touches. His ceiling is a #2 option who will space the floor for the primary and average 20-24 points per game. He's that good. It's just impossible to know how he'll translate. But he definitely has the offensive skill set to be a legit scorer and all star. He will not be a bust with his offensive game.

He's probably not quick enough to guard 3s and he's too small to guard 4s. He's not a great rebounder and he isn't a great ball handler. But he's a deadly offensive scorer. Quite frankly, he reminds me a lot of Melo. He's a scoring machine. Only he's much more efficient.

PG: Kemba Walker / Elfrid Payton / FA

SG: Rudy Gay / Gerald Henderson / Gary Neal

SF: Michael Kidd- Gilchrist / Jeff Taylor

PF: Doug McDermott / Cody Zeller

C: Al Jefferson / Bismack Biyombo

We would get absolutely destroyed on the boards and have horrible runs on defense.

So a weak, 6'8 at best McDermott is going to play "PF"? Oh, sure.

And don't give me that "stretch 4" nonsense. He can't play that either, not at a starter's level.
