Rod Higgins Stepped down.

u guys have been begging for Higgins to go, and now you act surprised. If MJ forced Higgins to step down it only enforces that MJ is set on making this team better.

Rick Bonnell spoke with MJ & wrote a column on the Observer explaining what happened.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/06/13/4974771/charlotte-hornets-shakeup-rod.html

-MJ & Higgins had agreed on salary for a new contract several weeks ago

-MJ came to Higgins recently & told him that he was giving Cho more control

-MJ is giving Cho full control of the roster & financial side of things, he wanted Higgins to work exclusively as a buffer to him & the coaches

-Higgins saw it as a demotion & told MJ he was stepping down. MJ requested that he wait until after the draft but Higgins declined, which is why the midnight announcement

-MJ plans on hiring an assistant GM to help out so that Cho can stay focused on putting together the roster & managing the salary cap

-MJ stated that no one person will control everything. Cho will bring his ideas to MJ & the coaches, & they'll all work together

So, basically, people were freaking out & calling MJ incompetent for putting his friendship aside (Higgins is like a brother to him) & doing what's best for the team.

Nothing like chicken littles around here ASSuming crap.

I might be looking at this the wrong way but it appears to me MJ is starting to find his groove as a NBA exec. Most observers have felt MJ always hired "his friends" & not the best people to run the team. He clearly feels Cho is better suited for many of the basketball operations duties

I think he's starting to see the benefits of putting business ahead of friendship. This last season and the financial impact has to have made him more aware.
