Rod Higgins Stepped down.

This does more good than bad in the FO.

I don't think it's as clear and cut as that.

It was long thought that Cho and Jordan were the 'main guys' in-charge of personnel decisions.

If that's true, it could indicate that Higgins disagreed with the way they were addressing player acquisitions (i.e. draft/free agency/trade).

And if that's the case, I believe it does more bad than good in the FO.

The last thing Jordan needs is more "yes-men."

Hopefully the rumor above was inaccurate and and Higgins was let go because he was performing poorly.

Bonnell's take

@rick_bonnell: Rod Higgins is out as the top executive for the Hornets. So bizarre 2 weeks before the draft I thought it was a prank.

@rick_bonnell: To say this is bizarre would be an understatement.

@rick_bonnell: Hey, everyone in the NBA sends a press release at 12:22 a.m., saying the head of basketball operations is out.

@rick_bonnell: It's incredible how badly the Hornets screwed up tonight. At the exact moment they were gaining momentum, they act dysfunctional.

@rick_bonnell: FWIW: Rod Higgins got mocked in Charlotte, and that was BS. He pushed for Jefferson and Sessions. Smart guy

With the draft two weeks away? Looking dysfunctional already. Jordan better get it together.

This was actually my thought exactly. I was really hoping that I would somehow have more faith in the front office now that we are the Hornets. You know, passing the "clean slate" off to them as well. I'm not even a fan of Higgins, it's the timing coupled with all of the positive momentum in the organization that makes this look bad.

I've had some negative things to say about Higgins, but regardless, I really wish someone that was as involved as he was in the scouting/draft process would've stayed around through the draft. Bonnell is right about that much - just as we were gaining momentum, we go out and look all dysfunctional.

Now, that being said, what I don't agree with Bonnell on is how Higgins should be patted on the back for Jefferson and Sessions. I'm pretty sure if MJ and Cho weren't on board, then those moves don't happen anyway. He's also turning a blind eye to all of the other crap that happened during Higgins tenure, especially before Cho came into the fold. "Dust Chip" anyone?

In terms of pro personnel and nepotism, I won't miss him. But, as I said, I would like for someone that was intimately involved with the draft process to be able to see that job through...

Then again, maybe we just got one less cook in the kitchen, and now Cho and MJ get to pick the groceries as well. Could be a good thing?
