Jon Beason carted off field during non contact exercise.

It is a ligament tear and bone fracture.   Beason is on his way to Charlotte to see Cams ankle doctor for another opinion. Once you start having foot problems you keep having them.  ld be suprised if he gets up to full speed this coming season although he may play.

Just watched his 2013 highlight tape with the Giants.  Granted it's highlight (it's a decently long one for him only playing like 11 or 12 games)... but he seemed like a real impact player for them last season.  Didn't know old Beast still had it left in him.  Good to see though.

Lol at that hit on RG3.

Heard some Giants fans say their defense went from near last in the league to a top 10 unit after Beason took over at Mike.  Ironically similar to when Luke took over for Beason.  Thought that was a pretty cool tidbit.

We did Jon a favor for the leader he was on and off the field.

It really doesn't get much harder than that to understand. He wanted a chance elsewhere we obliged out of immense respect.

We saved one million, just an added bonus.

I agree, I also think he agreed to the paycut so we could more easily find a trade partner. Just saying that trading him didn't save much at all, as some have implied.

You're not looking at the salary he would have made had we kept him. That;s the money that goes away once he's traded.

As far as the comparison, money that's being paid to a guy who isn't playing or is playing poorly (which is what Beason was) is pretty much just as useless as 'dead money'.

Had we kept him he would've made $1m, that was his base salary and that's all we would've paid him. That's my point.

TDs second ACL tear was during the non-contact portion of OTAs, wasn't it?

unfortunately for beason, this kind of thing is going to be more common to him the rest of his career. he stayed healthy for most of his time here, but for some players that first injury is kind of like opening pandora's box because they become more susceptible to injury and they happen more frequently. that seems to be what happened to beason.

i actually saw him do it.  He was doing agility drills, back-peddling.

I wonder why that was. Does Rivera's MLB play a different way than what Fox's MLB used to? and then is that why when he went to the giants, fox's old squad, Beason excelled again?

The Jon Beason who played for the Giants was a middle linebacker.

The Jon Beason who was playing for the Panthers was an outside linebacker (and sadly, not a very good one).

What does that have to do with effort?

Not a question of effort.  It's a question of ability at a position.

I'm sure Beason would give his best effort if you put him at defensive tackle too.  The results still wouldn't be very good.

It s very simple the giant beason was fast, cared enough to make plays, and overall gave the defense a boost. Panther beason didn't care as much and didn't want to help the team in ST. effort was not same and that changed once he became a giant. Here he was asked to do some of dirtywork and maybe that's not what his strenght is or he wanted. Giants beason did dirty work plus some. I saw him blow up OLmen as giant like he was playing SLB and not MLB. Like I stated before beason would be last one id thought of going though tough motions, but watch his play for the giants and its no question different than here.

Jon said the strength of the wolf is the pack and the strength of pack is the wolf. Maybe the wolf didn't want to be in this pack. Dave came in and change the environment. The old guard of players where not on edge, they felt too safe. No way blackburn should play better than beason at ANY spot, giants even let him go. Just a sad way to leave.

I have a hard time buying the notion that Jon Beason would give anything less than his best.

Back even before Luke Kuechly was on the team, there was a time when Beason played on the outside (it was Dan Connor in the middle).  The results weren't as good, but it never looked like Beason was giving any less than his absolute best.

Outside just wasn't the right spot for him, but it was the only spot we had available because Kuechly was just better.

His starting somewhere else in the middle was the best outcome for him (and frankly, for us too).
