Yeah it was all Cam in the running game last year.   No one contributed at all but him.

What??  You say we rushed for 2026 and Cam accounted for 585 yards which is only a quarter of the yards we rushed for even with a diminished backfield with Stewart hurt..  You say we rushed for 14 TDs and Cam had less than half those.

You say that he wasn't the only quarterback who ran for over 500 yards while the team ran for less than 2500 total.  What?? Seattle did the same thing??  They must not have had a rushing game either.  What?  They won the superbowl with their lousy running game.............

nevermind

I like it when people use stats to completely form their opinion.

Myself, I prefer to watch the games and take note on how many drives were sustained from Cam's legs when the pocket broke down. Without those plays sustaining those drives, your stats would be meaningless.

It is waaaay tooo early in the season to feel optimistic about Stewart's health.

Yes, he's apparently healthy now. However, there's a lot of time (both now and early in the season when it starts) for him to get hurt again.

Fingers crossed.

And let's hope that Cam doesn't have to run much (except on scrambles) indeed!!!!!

Haha.....great logic.

I don't like facts and stats....I prefer to use my own opinion to refute said facts.

But we have seen for the last 3 years that those are a part of Cams game and you can't take those away...that's what he does. I don't know why people are so anxious to have Cam stop running. He's extremely successful at it, and I hardly remember him taking any big hits when he's running the ball. In the pocket is where he takes most of his damage, I.E. the last Saints game 2 years ago, or the Miami game last year.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Cam's scrambles (and that's not what he was really talking about). It's the called runs/read option on any regular basis that coaches and many fans have a problem with.

Obviously, if the OL, WR's  and running game are clicking in any semblance of productivity, Cam's called runs will be lessened.

It's those short yardage runs, and hits that most want to see reduced.

It's a make or break year for Stewart's NFL career and I see him being our most effective back.  We can't keep doing the 2 yard D'lo punches with the occasional bursts and rely too much on Cam and Tolbert.  If he hits a home run on the year, we'll be in really good shape.

funny, it's not til the following June after the season has finished and people are now satisfied with the running game.  but damn if it wasnt in the middle of the season last year and pretty much everyone knew it was lacking.  Yay we had less than 1,500 yards combined from the backfield but damn they were the best 1,500 EVER

Since when it is a normal thing for a QB to have a quarter of the rushing yards and so many TDs?  Cam has some of y'all spoiled as hell.

You take his running ability for granted, particularly if you can't see how prolific his drive-saving runs have been in relation to the success of the running game.

Yeah and I like people who completely ignore the fats and decide their opinion often formed on subjective and inaccurate information is more important.  Then when the facts change they keep the same opinion because they already know what is going on.

His first 2 years the pocket often broke down  because Cam held the ball 5 or 6 seconds or failed to check down to the wide open back in the flat trying to make a bigger play downfield.  Part of that was  Chud not letting him call an audible and even if he would have allowed it, Cam didn't check down figuring he could run away from the pressure and make a big play downfield..

Last year he had more control, made better decisions and threw the ball away or checked down.  So his stats went down and miraculously we started to win more.  What if it isn't about Cam running and doing it all himself but instead doing the opposite.  Finding the open guy and the mismatch and checking down instead of holding the ball and trying to do it all himself.  That is the progression I am expecting this year.

How about look around the league with more athletic running quarterbacks.  Off the top of my head Seattle had almost the same stats as us and the running game. took them all the way to the superbowl.  What about San Francisco.  They had 2200 yards rushing and Kaepernick had over 500.  Counting us, that was 3 of the teams that made the playoffs.  I would say it is getting to be pretty normal these days.
