Hey I'm not the one who is using their rosy memories of elway to paint who is more accurate. I am going by statistics. If you don't want to go indepth with better advanced statistics by making such an assertion than you should of never said anything in the first place.

If you think statistics is always the most important thing to consider when you argue about a player's career, you could argue that Jim Kelly should never enter the HOF.

If you think Cam's career accuracy stats are a result of screen passes you haven't been paying attention. Especially the first two years Cam was throwing about as many deep passes as anyone.

Cam IS a lot more accurate than people seem to think.

Dropped balls don't show up in stats. Cam can make any throw on the field.

He throw high by design on some plays and then of course the others are due to being pressured and throwing off his back foot.

Elway was a really good/great QB, he was not the best passer of the ball.

 

However, fans and teammates loved him, and he had a huge arm, and could do things that most others can't.

 

Again, I see Cam being very much in the same type QB.

the first year, I think cam had the most passes over 20 yards, if I remember correctly. also led the lead in rush tds for a while as a qb......don't think that had ever been done.

 

 

 

cam can be pin point accurate as we all saw the td pass in the playoff to smith, but due to inconsistent footwork mechanics, his accuracy wavers at times through the duration of a game.

I really think I would leave the state. I've lived through Orton, Tim T, and Manning. Broncos fans love their quarterback until they lose then it's fug that guy. They would cream their pants if they saw Elway suit up again

Great kudos from an NFL legend. I am sure most Panther fans agree that we have something special in Cam and I am proud to have him leading this team.

True. 

 

People don't always want to hear this: But Elway was overrated for most of his career, especially the early portion. He struggled. 

 

Funny, I always said: When he [Elway] was bad, he was average; when he was average, he was good; when he was actually good, he was very good. And when he was very good, he was a HOFer". Lol. At least that's how the press treated him most of his career (kinda like how they're treating Andrew Luck now). He was always given the benefit of the doubt, cause the press had invested so much in him. 

 

He did become a very good QB in the mid to later part of his career, however he was never a great pure passer of the ball. He was more a winner, playmaker. I think Cam has demonstrated more passing skills early in his career, compared to Elway. And if Elway truly watched Cam his first three years (who knows) he would have noticed it as well. 

 

Great QB though. He just wasn't as good as the press wanted you to believe earlier in his career (as Luck now).
